  • In a previous house, the sound insulation wasn't great due to the necessity of a window AC unit. Outside of my window apparently lived a bird who had learned to imitate my alarm and had no regard for timing.

I agree that birdsong can be quite lovely. I do not agree that it is universally so.

  • It wasn't as bad as some - no one was offended AFAIK - but recently a friend's wife asked if I was close with my in-laws. I had recently moved geographically much closer to them, so I described the distance between us, about four miles.

I didn't even realize I had misunderstood until her husband clarified later in the conversation.

  • Out of curiosity, would you prefer him as is, or restored (restuffed, redyed, etc.) but otherwise still the same physical Bear Bear? I guess this is a modern Ship of Theseus type question.

  • Didn't they also bounce you around in ... Shadows of the Empire? Maybe Dark Forces II? It's been a while, but one of those seems right to me. Actually, maybe it was Jedi Academy ... No longer sure.

They also offered a pleasing sound effect, which isn't really practical in real life, but which I personally still enjoyed.

  • Aww, too bad. I actually generally try not to tease about typos, I've made plenty myself, but occasionally I can't resist. Decent chance there's one in this comment and, just for fun, I'm not even going to proofread!

Thanks for being a good sport about it. For any future readers, the unedited post said "moth" instead of "mouth."

Hope that, whatever part of your day it is, it's a good one.

  • I don't know about "best," as that probably varies per individual, but I always recommend reading at:

and if you want to experiment in private, there are lots of live editors; locally I recommend Obsidian. If you don't want to install anything, there are also in-browser options such as:

(I have not used this and so cannot comment on its quality, but at a glance it looks good)
