I think you’re underestimating how much hatred and disdain this administration is stewing in Europe. This is not something that can be fixed if a "normal" person comes into office in four years. IF there’s even going to be an open election then.

What’s happening right now has already done generational damage to transatlantic diplomacy. And we’re barely a month in.

The key to understanding what’s happening right now is (imo):

• Trump has a deep admiration for dictators, going back decades. This is well documented. Putin is a role model for the way he wants to govern (and see himself, actually).
• Zelensky not complying with Trumps extortion to find dirt on Hunter Biden led to his first impeachment. Trump is seeking revenge for that. In fact he said publicly that he would seek revenge on all the people that wronged him (in his mind at least). He is out to punish his enemies and Zelensky is high on that list.

Europe needs to realize that in the span of little over one month, the US turned from its most important ally to a hostile nation - and potentially an enemy.

According to details leaking to the press, Zelenskyy didn’t walk but was thrown out.

It’s also revenge for Zelenskyy not complying with Trumps extortion to dig up dirt on Hunter Biden, which led to Trumps first impeachment. He hates Zelenskyy for that.

Let’s hope we can do more than tweets.

Germany is not undergoing an economic collapse, what the fuck are you talking about.

I thought they were making that typical American denialist point that "actually the US is still friends with Ukraine, it’s just trump that’s the problem".

I understand that Meloni is struggling with cognitive dissonance here because she loves Trump and the American far right but also recognizes Russia as the obvious enemy to Europe that they are (and thereby making Ukraine our natural ally).

But the time for courting is over. America has become a hostile nation and they might actually be our enemy soon.

Increase European integration and federalization. Increase defense spending and fund a European MIC. Organize into a joint European army. This and only this can be our way forward or we will be crushed between two fascist superpowers.

I disagree. Trump is neurodiverse and has dementia. He’s also an absolute monster of a human being, one of the worst that ever rose to power. So don’t think I’m making excuses for him here, but the guy legit has brainrot.

BoJo is a smart man hiding behind his bumbling facade. It’s very obvious when you hear him talk for example in a court of law instead of in front of a camera. With Trump you don’t have that distinction. He is always the same.

Those billions went to military industrial companies, directly funding manufacturing jobs in the USA.
