  • Right wing bots. That's a good one.

Be good to others - no bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia

As long as these rules are in place and enforced arbitrarily by power tripping mods you'll only see the woke bubble. Alternate ideas are not allowed. Try talking about any of the taboo subjects and see how quickly the ban hammer falls.

kbin.social is just as bad as reddit ever was. I said that I personally don't want a transgender transition surgery and they banned me. These are not places where real discussion can happen.

  • I don't mind downvotes. But I cannot debate when banned.

And there is no subtlety in the mods behaviour. They ban based on dog whistles that only they can hear.

  • Booky.io is a decent bookmark manager. Switched to it after they killed Google Bookmarks.

  • It checked a lot of boxes for corporation use. SELinux isn't/wasn't on debian either. But it's not any 'better'. Debian has been rock solid for me. ZFS is the only thing I'd like to see in Debian feature-wise.

  • Animalsbeingderps was a great sub! I knew they were tracking all reddit accounts but to monitor other websites is downright Orwellian.

  • It's far better than reddit is but real discussions still aren't allowed to happen. Before 2016 or so I was still subscribed to /politics because while we didn't always agree, we could at least discuss. Then in 2016 everyone got TDS and became a fragile child, unable to handle adult topics without banning or reporting. Wrongthink became a reality. And it's very much a reality here at lemmy.world and other large fediverse instances.

  • I thought so too honestly but figured Thermaltake knew what they were doing and went with it. The stencil makes it very easy to apply exactly as much as specified. I didn't notice any splooging when I attached the heatsink and temps were in the 30's at idle so called it good for now.

  • Not so much cars, but the drivers. This 'safety first' methodology that the DOT uses only serves to create bad drivers. Driving is inherently dangerous and we cannot design that out with roadway changes. We need to remove licenses and actually mean it. We need repeated testing for everyone, not just the elderly. If the police did anything but ticket speeders to generate revenue driving might actually get better. It only takes one asshole to ruin the flow of an entire interstate for miles. And they receive no punishment for slowing other people down who are going about lawful business.

PS. Induced demand is mostly myth. Building more lanes is how we gain more bandwidth. Even if the speed doesn't increase the throughput will and that means more people getting where they want to be. That is how you reduce congestion.

  • chanting an obvious joke exaggeration

Woke Leftist don't have a sense of humor so we know this is a lie.

  • We are taught from a young age the need for money

Bartering isn't any better than using fiat. Fiat allows economies to function at a level bartering can never approach. To say we 'need' money exposes your ignorance.

  • But Capitalism

Here's a hint, capitalism isn't the problem. Capitalism allows us to do what we want, which means we can be greedy. Freedom is a two edged sword. One that I will gladly take cuts from while it enables our way of life. No one else is responsible for your safety but you.

  • Money doesn't turn people evil. Humans are inherently greedy. Money is the scalpel that exposes our true self.

  • I will never get how and why Apple shills defend the shit that Apple does.

They want the product because it looks fancy and they don't know any better about the specs to realize it's overpriced. Or they do know and don't care because it's a status symbol. Which is worse, really.

I mean the first iPhone couldn't even use the music on the phone for ringtones. There were like 10 pre-loaded rings and that was it. Meanwhile my Windows smart phone could use any MP3 on the SD card (which could also be used to play music). But people were lining up around the block for the iPhone even though it was objectively worse that the other phones at the time. It was just shiny and didn't require thinking to use, just blind acceptance.

  • is using a USB ethernet adapter preferable to a wireless access point that is close to my machine?

Almost certainly. Always go wired when possible. Not only will the wired device be faster, there will be more bandwidth available for other devices still using wireless. Wireless is a shared transmission medium you want as few devices using it as possible.

  • Reddit search has always been broken, even when it was working.

  • Cities that don’t focus as much on car centric infrastructure are more pleasant to drive through.

You know what makes a pleasant drive? Getting where you want to go quickly, and without stops. And we accomplish that by accepting that cars are always going to exist. We must throw out the ridiculous notion that bikes aren't pedestrians. They are not worth building out completely separate infrastructure which is the only way they are happy. They refuse to cooperate and share pedestrian infrastructure which is the obvious solution. They are selfish and pretend they are saving the world by making cars drive slower and stop more. One biker can cause more incidental pollution than if they just drove there instead and didn't slow everyone down.
