  • Nah dude, they have a point actually.

Ive lived through an evac or two thanks to some years spent in Florida during hurricane season.

A standard car is limited in the ways it can travel, it needs road or something approximating road so that it can travel without destroying the wheels, tires or undercarriage. If you put too many cars on a road there's only so much distance that'll be travelled in a period of time. Similar to a DDoS.

Walking on the other hand, well people can really just walk anywhere. You don't need roads you just need a decent set of footwear and it's difficult for walking to get backed up because you can just walk around someone.

  • Hi! Jew here, the perfect person to talk about this situation!

The continued occupation of Palestein is not a good situation under any circumstance except that by Israel holding that land it prevents the neighboring countries from invading the area and starting wars with Israel which is why the land is held. Feel free to ignore the whole "it's our birthright, it's jewish land" cause let's be honest, even that's questionable in the torah.

Moving right along, the continued occupation is the reason for the attack, but that makes it no more correct. Innocent people, potentially including children definitely including teenagers, have been murdered.

With that understanding out of the way, lemmygrad was defeded because users were actively posting in favor of the murder and in multiple cases posting/hoping/whatevering for even more of it. Guess what? That's 100% against TOS of lemmy.world. I don't like the situation the two nations are in but advocating for the death of innocent people is fucking disgraceful.

  • In short, there was a lot of users who were openly celebrating the attack on Israeli citizens and justifying it with the occupation of Palestein which is a very nuanced issue and situation.

  • I think it's a different situation when the company is a big company.

Example, I like knowing my grocery store is trying to use sustainable food procurement practices.

I don't really care about my grocery store having an opinion on gun rights other than to say "don't fucking use it in the store"

  • I can't agree with your stance.

I have no tolerance for bigotry, racism, trans hate or any other kind of xenophobic bullshit. If someone wants to hate someone who has done nothing to them, I would love for that person to get fucked.

Too much hate in the world and tolerance of it does nothing to solve the problem.

  • I don't remember seeing that.

What I do remember seeing was quoted statements with links at the end of the quote to the exact comment.

I've already seen one person mistake the quotes for actual statements from the user, could it be this was the situation?:

Op made post with the quotes. Commentor A read the post and mistook the quotes for statements Commentor A response as a normal person would "hey stop saying shitty things" Op responds with more negative quoted statements

It feels weird but I've seen people be obstinate for no good reason on Lemmy before.

Lemme know what you think since I missed that comment thread.

Also, looks like the ban was updated to a 24 hour ban with a message "stop the hate speech" which I feel adds weight to my recollection of the situation and theory that OP's post was misread.

Update: misread or not, OP is doing a lot of what looks like ban evasion. Even going as far as creating accounts on other instances.

  • You're absolutely correct, the thing I take issue with is no matter how nuanced the issue is, they are members of lemmygrad.ml cheering for the deaths of innocent civilians.

No matter what the situation is, that's really not ok and that's why the user was making the ask.
