I always said "in GIN icks" (gin like the alcohol) based on someone else's pronunciation years ago. I never realized it was meant to have anything to do with "engine" as a result.
It's fairly hard to create one-size-fits-all advice since everyone will be in different parts of their lives in different circumstances.
Less time on the internet and definitely away from the big social media sites does one good. Avoiding the 24/7 news cycle does as well. Instead, read a book for something you want to learn or read fiction for some period of time a day on most days.
Japan -- Probably Burger King for anything with more than like 10 locations (I'm specifically hedging here because I think we have like 3 Shake Shacks or something). MOS is OK as is Freshness, but they're not worth the money IMO. Edit: forgot Lotteria is here as well. I'd probably take Lotteria > MOS > Freshness.
For what we have with more than a few locations from memory
MOS - Japanese chain
Freshness - Japanese chain
Lotteria - Korean chain
First Kitchen/Wendy's -- we used to have full Wendy's but they combined with First Kitchen. They're OK.
KFC if you count chicken burgers
McDonald's
Burger King
There are other more regional chains that I'm not remembering here. Shake Shack has a handful of locations. In-And-Out has apparently done a couple of pop-ups. If any other foreign chains made it over lately, I'm not aware.
Clarification: what original bible? The Bible today isn't even a single version of a thing. Historically, it was a bunch of manuscripts (many of which, conversely, were more different to each other the further back in time you go showing that a number of competing stories got combined into one) written by different people at different times in different places and eventually people more or less agreed on some things. Certain things have been found to be added hundreds or even thousands of years ago and some modern bibles will actually remove them (apparently something in I think John where it seems to skip a verse or two where something was added to make it make more sense with the other synoptic gospels).
TL;DR -- there never was one single bible, it's a bunch of stories that got edited before it got into a bible, and we continue to find texts that show older versions closer to any events differ from what modern texts have.
You can apply for citizenship in Japan after 5 years (which, until recently, was faster than any permanent residency requirements). The only downside is you must give up all other citizenships. Other than that, it's a mountain of paperwork and does have a minor Japanese language requirement, but it's apparently not too hard. I need to be able to go back to the US to help my parents as needed so it's not an option for me. PR will get me a number of the same benefits, though obviously not all of them.
I mean, I immigrated to Japan fairly easily. If you have a university degree and speak good English, there are visas to be had. IT as well. I do find I have a tougher time since I came over in my 30s, compared to the younger people coming here.
gross. Also, the reason people aren't having kids isn't due to a lack of people fucking, despite what some articles may say; it's entirely related to societal issues that need complex fixes. That said, three of my friends have had kids in the last couple years.
Kinda. In the two-party first-past-the-post system, they were still not convinced they should vote which could actively make their futures worse. Knowing why that alone wasn't a motivating factor (unless this is all people who want to vote AGAINST Harris (which I highly doubt)) is definitely worth exploring.
They don't always do definitive editions, so should I just wait forever and never get it?
This is not a binary. "If they do not release a definitive edition, I can never buy it" is not a true statement. Show the company that you're not going to get it right away and convince others to do the same.
they just view that as people not being interested in the game at all, so they quit making anything.
I have never seen this happen with a popular IP. People complaining on social media would also probably be a decent enough way for someone at the company to know as around release, companies will definitely be checking.
I specifically noted that I did not think they did preorders. Secondly, you could also not buy it when it first comes out, which is what I was getting at. If you know they are going to do this, either wait to buy the "full version" or buy it later on sale or not at all. Basically, buying it when it comes out is still telling the company that, even for an incomplete product, you're still willing to shell out full price for it.
If you keep giving them money at or around the time it comes out (or before, but I don't think they do preorders), then they will never stop doing this.
Some of those same reasons are the reasons voter ID laws as often implemented (i.e. without anyway to ensure that everyone is actually able to get an ID given that it takes documents, time, and money that not everyone can spare) can negatively impact the same portions of the population as well.
A lot is still relevant, I think. Additions would probably be on facial-recognition-avoidance and perhaps avoiding surveillance more broadly. As opposed to phone phreaking and other telco stuff, probably more internet and programming-focused things would exist.
I've taken and passed practice tests before. A lot of Americans who may be down-voting may remember things like Jim Crow laws and how tests were widely used to disenfranchise voters, particularly non-white or otherwise "the wrong kind of" voters, in the past and it still leaves a bad taste.
In Japan, there are a couple of chains that exist and smaller restaurants (basically all in the areas where foreigners are and moreso near US militar bases). "Taco rice" is a local take that is basically taco ingredients served over rice instead of in a taco shell. Almost all of the places are adjusted to Japanese tastes by default, so a lot lower on the spice. Lots of foreigners living here end up going to one of a couple of places (two of which are basically Chipotle knock-offs for however "Mexican" you might consider that) or giving up and making their own. We did get Taco Bell a few years ago (again "Mexican") which has a more limited menu. I wasn't impressed, but I never cared for US Taco Bell, either, but it had lines lasting hours the first days/weeks it was open.
