  • Wait I checked and now im just banned from !memes@lemmy.ml but not from lemmy.ml as a whole. My comment wasn't low effort tho. I was just mentioning how I dislike communist violent revolution fantasy getting posted over and over as "memes" when they aren't ironic or satirical.

  • Honestly I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the fact that sadly lemmy is still really small in terms of content and I like interacting with people. Since ml is like the second biggest community its mildly annoying but I guess you gotta pick your poison. Probably better just focusing on content from the other instances thats a bit less toxic tho.

  • I wish you’d differentiate between instance and community. I didn’t just get banned from that specific community but from the whole instance permanently without explanation. I mean I guess I don't mind that much in retrospect but it did mildly annoy me since I like commenting and lemmy doesn't have that much content to begin with compared to the likes of reddit.

  • Yeah I feel that... I like discussing novel ideas how things can be done different. I once had a longer discussion with one of the aforementioned users but I knew there was no point once they started denying mass starvation in the soviet union and the human rights infringements. I wish it could be different but I guess you gotta pick your poison whether or not to see these communities. Also I don't get them claiming china being supposedly communist when its really not but oh well...

  • I block it since I'm not here for revolutionary fantasy. I am not the second biggest lemmy instance. The arguments I've had with people from that community are barely worth my time and I don't feel like seeing this type of content. You can block me, I don't care. Users choose to see by their preference but relevant instances should have coherent rules and not just political agenda by whom they allow and block. That's just my take on that tho!

  • Although not open source, I use Obsidian since its really extensible, works completely local and has open source extensions. I thought about using Logseq too. I'd never trust Microsoft with my personal notes tho.

  • Gotte be Fairphone. I bought the FP5 when it was out pretty new from Murena. It came with a de-googled android rom called /e/ preinstalled. Couldn't be happier. I love the way you can just open the back and exchange any part with a simple phillips head screwdriver as well as exchangeable batteries. It's still splash resistant tho. I love knowing neither google nor apple are tracking me and supporting open source software monetarily. It works a bit different from stock android but its nice to use. I also like how they have long software support and care about where their parts are sourced. For their performance they might be a bit pricy but it aligns with my ideals so I support it.

  • If I write job/*in that puts an emphasis on how the jobs default is a male person, with that weird female inclusivity attached. If we just accepted that the gender neutral way is the common masculine form which applies regardless of the gender I think its more beneficial.

  • The gender star is anything but gender neutral. It highlight the different genders artificially and still makes the female variant of the word the second choice by separating it like this /* This differentiates it from the default general masculine word which is supposed to include everybody and further strengthens the image of the man as the default in a certain job. I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you on this one.

And for non-Native german speakers, if this sounds confusing that is because it is!

  • I think it just makes the german language ugly and still keeps the female version of a word as a second choice. Grammatically speaking I believe just common masculine version of a word which is supposed to speak for everyone involved just makes more sense. If we want gender equality we shouldn't highlight the different genders more and make the female version the second choice, but thats just my opinion

  • Honestly, when a road is closed for a weekend at irregular intervals without a schedule in advance its not reasonable to map it. I contribute to OSM from time to time and thought about it as well but the general consensus is to map regular closures or road closures that go on for like more than a month. OSM is a general purpose map and not for mapping road closures as current data will be used long after now on offline navigation gps devices. We would probably need an open street closure map that aggregates all the databases for road closures and interact with osm. For the major ones I know I've just been blocking what I know locally to not route through it, as I can't be bothered in starting a project like that
