  • To bolster your point, a true progressive ran in 2018 in west Virginia- Paula Swearengin. She challenged Joe Manchin in the primary and lost 70-30.

She then won the Democratic primary in 2020 for Senate and went on to lose in the general 70/27 (other votes to the libertarian.)

People really need to understand that while Zohran and AOC are great there isn't some kind of silver bullet with progressivism across the country.

  • I'll concede some of it now.

But you understand "donors" are just rich fucks. Until the NYC/NY Democrat party says "don't vote for him" then it's really irrelevant.

That said, Hochul, Gillen, etc. can't do the simplest gd thing like most other Democrats. No one says you have to endorse. I doubt AOC would "endorse" Connor Lamb if he won the PA primary. But a pithy "The people have spoken who they want their rep to be and I hope the Democratic candidate wins in November."

It's amazing how anyone center to left can find so much time to dither and argue amongst themselves instead of realizing the bigger picture which is to win power and do good things with it. JFC.

  • Other than the one Gillen the rest are nothing comments. No one says they won't back him besides that. And rich people are going to back anyone who will let them keep their largesse. They donated to Democrats because they know a Republican isn't going to win in NYC.

This is a pretty BS article that is painting things that aren't really there. At least not to any great extent.

  • Yeah except you using "liberals" like this makes zero sense.

There are plenty of people who think leftists should back the "centrist/liberal" candidate in the general if they win the primary. There are also plenty of people who think Cuomo should fuck all the way off in the exact same method now that the leftist candidate has won. I'm sure there are some centrist voters who obviously buck that trend (same as some leftists when their primary person doesn't win) but I feel like the solid majority would rather win and move things left regardless of pace than give it to Republicans (or Adams, which is close enough.)

Just because Cuomo is a terrible person doesn't mean all "liberals" support him in running.

Here's to hoping Zohran destroys Adams and if he is shithead enough to run, Cuomo too.

It's funny- your guy won and you're still mad. Take some time to celebrate. JFC. This is a GOOD thing man.

  • To your latter point- if people show up to vote at all they don't usually show up to primaries.

Wish in one hand, shit in the other. See which fills up first. People aren't voting every single election and just hoping someone great shows up. Well newsflash- you gotta show up first.
