  • That's OP's opinion and some users here, but I don't praise it and I don't think it will be good for fediverse in the future. People will start using Threads app since they can interact with other fediverse instance. And there will be more drama and more toxic content just like on fb, twitter, tiktok and ig.

    This is even more concerning

I will consider to stop using lemmy..

  • There are reasons why you should use Firefox browser or its forks (I use Mull browser) with uBlock Origin.

  • I can post any technology related outside of tech biz but mostly it's not a popular thing here, many of articles are too technical, hardly any discussion, even worse there are articles that you won't like it. For example, I can post the good thing about EVs today and another day I can post the downside of EVs battery to environment, and I get the heat.

Posting in niche community? Not enough MAU, I'v tried in c/collapse, c/cybersecurity etc, no discussion.

    c/technology is just a mirror of r/technology

  • I use DuckDuckGo browser and Mull Browser (Firefox fork) with uBlock Origin, I don't hit paywall

  • TIL lemmy doesn't have Supermod

Months ago, I was banned from world news on lemmy.ml, and I can't post in any community on lemmy.ml

I thought it was a new mod on world news, now I know it wasn't them 😅

  • I see, I thought lemmy has something like Supermod. They can ban users on instance level, but they don't have all admin's privileges.

  • Well, yeah I understand we can't manage across other instances 😅

I mean at least we can stop them fron spamming our instance quickly. Even on bigger instance (lemmy.world) they spammed for over an hour.

I think lemmy need something like user made bot just like reddit to stop spammers instantly.

  • Yeah but it takes time to create bot to detect spam. And lemmy need user made anti spam bot just like reddit.

As for now adding mods is much easier

  • Mods not admins, at least we can stop spammers quickly.

  • Well, since this spammer has gone crazy on several instances

I was thinking we need mods from different time zones.

  • An hour has passed, and this spammer hasn't been banned yet

    Edit

    Huh? Hexbear?

  • Yeah, I was banned from world news for posting about jinping and uyghurs

  • Even the main devs didn't like fediverse

Federated social platforms, I don't think, will ever become mainstream. They may work in certain niches or perhaps among a subset of tech savvy people, but I'm highly skeptical if regular people will ever migrate to them.

  • Keep it in mind

We lost active users because of this

    • beehaw has been defed from lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works and other instances
    • some instances like lemmy.film and fmhy went offline
  • I rarely read books and newspapers these days, prior 2010-2012 I still read them. Over time, a number of publishers went out of business.

Since pandemic I read webtoons mostly. In a single day I can read 4-5 webtoons with 1-10 chapters each webtoon.

  • I use DuckDuckGo browser, and I didn't hit the paywall 🤔
