I just remember, there's APK Kit from f-droid repo, it doesn't need root access

Use NeoBackup from f-droid to do this, backup your apps and you can copy the backup to another phone or computer. You can restore it later when you need it

It wasn't the way images uploaded, it was more that kbin's image previews absolutely skullfucked the aspect ratio of anything that wasn't roughly in a 3:4 aspect ratio, making a bunch of deeply touching photos look like goofy funhouse mirrors.

I can only suggest to use mobile app. So far I don't see any problem with image handling on mobile app. On desktop and mobile browser you might want to use voyager https://vger.app

I think it's because there are a lot of meme posts on my front page (my default frontpage is to display all communities). I changed the frontpage to subscribed community, I hope this will reduce my data usage

I see the same problem on other lemmy apps, I think the problem is not the apps but large image size

They changed root folder / frontpage, if you access lemmy.world from web browser you'll be redirected somewhere

However, you still can access lemmy.world through applications
