  • Sounds like decades of a failed First-Past-The-Post system the keeps giving majorities to parties that can't close to 50% of the popular vote. We've known for a century that such a voting system isn't fair. A simple option is ranked ballot, were you rank that candidates, and if no one gets over 50% the least favourite is dropped, and the vote is re-counted.
We don't live in a Democracy, we live in something that is less than a Democracy.

  • rich

It's not about the rich. No one cares, except for a small handful of people. The vast majority of people want to fly away on vacation, own a large home, have a crappy grass lawn, eat meat everyday. They see environmentalism as some sort of odd lifestyle. If you make a law that says they can't use gas lawn mowers, they'll scream and go bat shit insane, call you the devil. They are relentless in wanting to pave over anything living.

  • Just wait to the shit show of the the the August 19th Democratic Convention in Chicago. Pro Israeli and Pro Palestinian groups will be marching. An alphabet soup of causes will also be on the march. It will only add the confusion surrounding the Democratic's policies, and turn people off voting.

  • I don't like the Republican policy, but it is semi-coherent; isolation, xenophobia, anti-immigration, no abortions in red states, burn down the entire economy if it doesn't work for rural areas. The Democrats don't have a coherent policy; immigration yes but also no. Peace in Palestine, but also send weapons to Israel. Stop Russia at all costs, but send as little money and only expired weapons. This is the greatest economy of all time ever, even if you don't feel it and can't afford a house. Crime is down, too bad you don't feel safe.

  • city

It's their fantasy that they'll go into the 'city' to take it over. Let them. Downtown is mostly social services in major cities, maybe some healthcare or a large teaching hospital. They'll quickly realize that pointing guns at homeless people isn't very productive.

The vast majority of people live in suburbs, don't care about politics, don't follow the news.

Revenge fantasies are always stupid. Modern cities are vast tracks of cookie-cutter suburban housing.

  • I think that there might be a certain size that is just comfortable for a car. Elderly people really can't get into small micro-cars, like a Honda Fit, it's hard to maneuver into them if an older person has joint pain. I think that's why crossovers are popular, they're just regulars cars that have been given a 6inch lift and a hatchback to make storage easier.
