  • One problem is trying to discern people who have truly religious beliefs, vs. people that are lazy lairs.

I think Trump supporters that talk of him being chosen by God are lazy lairs. They have a racist world view, can't justify it, so bring God into the argument. They have no real interest into looking deeply at questions or reality; they laugh at those that do.

  • I think that there is a place in the human brain that is responsible for 'spirituality'. Attempts at stimulating it can produce deep religious thoughts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_helmet

Maybe it evolved as a buffer to store random ideas we couldn't comprehend. Maybe as a social creator we need a section of our brain to produce spiritual ideas, to help with social cohesion?

  • It's called walking, better than any car. Having cars in major cities is so stupid. And before you say contractors need to have trucks, sure the do. But, I'm tired of companies sending out service vehicles to make almost 200 mile round trips, just so the competitor doesn't get the job.

  • Sex, swords and sandal movies were fairly common. Kids didn't get the slave thing, parents thought it was hot.

The population of the West has become older, more prudish, and has less sex. Look at average pictures from the 1970s, and 80s. People were skinnier, wore less clothing, and were generally hotter.

  • We are not a very reflexive species.

Pulling out millions of tons of fish from the Oceans is not sustainable. People don't care. If they don't see it, they don't even think about it.

We willfully blind ourselves in any way we can.

  • Read it when young as well, though I was luckily enough to read a quick bio of her. Escaped Communism, worked in Hollywood.

Felt that this was more a rant about trying to be passionate when stuck in a system, be it the horrible Communist system, or an uncaring bureaucratic one.

  • The 'one person, one piston', rule is amazing.

The car industry, and regulations around cars need to rewritten. Small 1 cylinder cars need to be sold legally.

Many families I know would be happy using a golf cart for 90% of their needs. Leaving the big car in the garage for the 1 time a month they drive somewhere far, or in very bad weather.
