  • If you're lucky it's 9k. It was about 13k for my mom before she died. We feel it was a mistake to do that and we pulled her out because we could take better care of her at home with some hired help for when we were exhausted.

The CNAs were understaffed, undertrained and underpaid and had to deal with some literally crazy people wacked out from dementia and other brain rot that wrote simply made them violent and angry. The people that have to endure that daily need to be paid more, period. We need to start telling our kids that if they want to serve the country, don't go into them military - go into healthcare. I'd story giving them an equivalent to the GI Bill.

  • Born before the A-Team existed, drive both. Prefer my sports cars to be manual but would be happy with DCTs. I have not had good experiences in terms of longevity with automatics. And no, I don't consider DCTs to be automatics.

  • I'm not sure either part is true given how many software and hardware engineers get churned out every year. I think what happened is the same kind of people who would never have touched a computer in 1992 now have even more powerful computers in their pockets, but they are used for only 3 or 4 different apps. For the most part, it's very consumption driven versus interaction. Designed to be put into the pockets of plebs in order to drive revenue because it can't be too difficult.

I would posit that most people working in business at this point don't even need things as powerful as a modern PC.

  • Yep. Allowing them to use banks could mostly eliminate cash purchases, it at the very least, they could be using secure cash drops like convenience stores and having transfer agencies handle moving the cash. It would further shine a light on the businesses and possibly help move cartels out of the growth-to-user pipeline.

  • Firstly, probably the firmware of the CPU and associated hardware. Then, any specific drivers for ancillary hardware that might be closely integrated with the CPU.

Not even Purism was and to get the Librem 5 entirely closed-source free and it's probably a lot further along than the Fairphone.
