The percentage of people I know that like HOAs is absurdly small, including neighbors and acquaintances from the last HOA I was in. Almost everyone I know hates them but is forced to deal with them because almost every neighborhood has one. Towns require them for new zoning because it allows them to pass the buck on code enforcement and then a handful of people love them because it lets them power trip The vast majority are just stuck with them due to lack of options.

Does this mean that a mall cop can defeat trump?

I normally hate heavily scripted websites but holy fuck this is one of the cleanest user experiences I’ve ever seen. This is truly a work of art.

I posted a truthfully presented article about a statement made by a known liar and pointed out that he can't be trusted. Meanwhile, you literally just called me a Trump supporter which just goes to show how ignorant you have become by aggressively applying blinders to your entire world view while attempting to do so to others. I am not, and have never been a Trump supporter. I am a conservative leaning moderate, Trump is neither conservative nor is he moderate; he has never been either of these things in his entire life so why would I support him. If you read anything other than curated and spoon fed takes that tell you only what you wanted to hear you might actually be able to articulate an argument to someone who disagrees with you.

I literally added a caption saying it was lies, or didn't you see that. You're the one shouting down anyone who doesn't agree with you. I do not believe a word Trump says, I do not support him and I don't agree with what is in the article. But reading and discussing what he does say is valid to the conversation. Only tolerating 3rd party discussion about what he said and avoiding the actual first party sources just makes people who agree with you smug and everyone else think you're hiding something.

Attacking people for posting or discussing something, even in a negative light, because you disagree with it is literally the definition of a "misinformation ban." When you do this you don't rid the world of that information, you force both extremes to retreat their own echo chambers and make the divide even worse. Just because you agree with your own echo chamber doesn't mean you can force it on others by shouting down anyone you disagree with (or sometimes agree with like in this scenario). All that does is make people ignore you and think you're an asshole. The only way to actually convince those in the middle is to understand both sides and explain why yours is right. If people think shouting down and banning other thoughts are your only tools they assume you're a tool with no actual substance behind your reasoning.

With the caption “he’s lying again.” Sticking your head in the sand and copying the ministry of magic’s approach after the triwizard cup isn’t going to help anything. Trying to “ban” misinformation just leads to lies on both sides. Reading both sides yourself and knowing what parts are true and lies allows you to correctly argue it to others.

Knowing what lies your opponents are repeating allows you to counter them.

It’s worth reading both sides for context. I am well aware of which papers cater to whom. Only reading your own circle jerk doesn’t actually make you well informed though.

I mean, at least he’s consistent in that. He lies to his supporters and opponents. I just hope no one is stupid enough to believe him.

To be honest, I find myself reading them more. Their goals are to drive clicks more than political ideals. It's garbage, but consistent garbage with minimal bias compared to most other options. At least you know where they stand...

I think the alt left violently bullying anyone and assuming control of the DNC, the same way the Trump assholes did to the GOP. But that's most of Lemmy so they see it as a good thing.

Politics definitely isn’t a single axis scale.

Im pretty well done with the established GOP, it just sucks because for anyone that isn’t very solidly left there is literally nothing that matches your views at all anymore. My wife is way further left than me but is still right of center by the current standards and is really struggling with not having any choices that she can actually support.

I used to be more centrist but the left has actively forced me to the right. I grew up in MA and my conservative friends all think I’m liberal. I just personally realize in not left because of people like this. I prefer the party that is kind to me on the street. Being a liberal in Enid is far easier and more comfortable than being a centrist in Seattle. Fascism is a hell of a drug and Seattle loves its drugs.

Oh, I absolutely do care which is why I’m ecstatic that this guy got successfully recalled. It’s just bullshit that he got that far and people crying wolf nazi is how he did.

So you’re an intolerant extremist that lumps any and everyone that doesn’t agree 100% with you into a broad category that you dehumanize and violently oppose by all means necessary to publicly shame them into compliance. Got it, you’re literally a textbook fascist. Add in your deliberate harboring of white supremacists by purposefully giving them cover to hide.

Cool. So you’re calling me a nazi because of association with people I neither support nor associate with. Wanna know what that does? It convinces me to never associate with you. It also means that when you call anyone else a nazi, I will straight up ignore you. Way to be part of the problem, you are actively enabling nazis by harboring and covering them. Just what I would expect from a standard bigot.
