My plan for the long weekend is to do a kayaking trip on all three days, I've started off well with a short paddle from Ngatitoa domain out towards the reef and back, tomorrow I aim to paddle from Makara to Owhiro Bay, and Monday a circumnavigation of Kapiti island.
Then we will hopefully get some rain, and I can do some whitewater stuff during the week.
Possibly, yes. It's been a tough year for everyone I know, and a lot of people are just trying to get through the break without spending too much money.
Another whitewater kayaking trip today, this time down the Akatarawa river. My first time down this river, we encountered a fallen tree that had completely spanned the river, requiring a portage across.
Also a big step up in difficulty for me, with some of the rapids on this being grade three.
My walk in, paddle out trip to the Otaki river went well, I'm pretty knackered now though. I don't think we'd go all the way down to the three bridges if we did it again though.
I'm pretty pleased with it, the app is very easy to use, and takes very little time. You start recording a trip, take a few photos along the way, then finish recording, pick the best photos, and create a video. The lack of customisation is a feature more than anything.
That's the very first sea kayaking trip I did actually, in a rented double. It's a beautiful place to paddle, I've been there three times now.
