  • A few titles that I never really hear anyone mention:

    Mister Mosquito

    Wetrix

    Steambot Chronicles

    Auto Modellista

    XIII

And then some of my favourites that everyone knows about:

    Burnout 3: Takedown

    Smugglers Run

    State of Emergency

    NFS: Underground

    Manhunt

    Shadow of the Colossus

    SOCOM, specifically the online MP

To name but a few, I don't want to write an absurdly long list which is just too easy to do.

  • There was a vote in 2011 to change the voting system that the idiots of the UK voted against changing. I was a kid then and that was the first time I voted but even as someone who has almost zero interest in politics I could see that moving away from fptp was the (what I thought) obvious choice.

    Apparently not.

After the absolute farce that was brexit as well I don't believe the the population of the UK are able to make a good decision that benefits the country and general populace. The majority of the population aren't able to employ critical thinking and are just easily lead towards shitty decisions.

I don't believe that even if we did get another vote to change this terrible system that it would actually pass unfortunately. I have no faith in the ability of this population to make good decisions.

  • If you like Sanderson then I think you'll enjoy The Foundryside books by Robert Jackson Bennett, a great trilogy.

The Infinite timeline series of books by Jeremy Robinson is pretty great. I have 4 books left and in my opinion the first book "Infinite" is the worst so far (although not bad). As a series however it keeps expanding, to begin with there are only small references connecting the books and the universe but as the series goes on there are more and more connections as different stories begin unravelling and connecting with each other. I definitely think it is worth it and as I read each new book it becomes more compelling as you learn more links.

The Deathstalker books by Simon R Green are a great Sci Fi / Space Opera that takes you on a wild, sometimes outrageous journey but ultimately brings the story back around to an ending that I didn't really expect and was really fun!

  • I liked their early stuff and this was probably about 9 or 10 years ago now that I saw them when they were on the dog mask kick. Since then I haven't followed them or know anything about them so not sure what is problematic. Any more info?

  • I knew absolutely nothing about this subject before the beginning of the year and now I have a server setup with proxmox an arr stack and both Plex and jellyfin running and it is all thanks to TechHut videos and guides.

He is the only person that seemed to explain things in a way that made sense for me as someone who had barely any Linux experience. The trash guides that everyone recommends I just couldn't make much sense of.

So another vote for tech hut from me.

  • Mushroomhead at a small venue were amazing, I've been to the venue so many times and never seen anyone do anything interesting but they were there were impressive lighting and water on the drums that was flying everywhere catching the light. Was great.

Sub Focus and Chase & Status in a tiny little venue (Chinese Laundry in Sydney) that was like a little grotto. Ceiling so low I couldn't even stretch my arms up straight with sweet raining on everyone. Amazing.

Die Antwoord with a load of acid in my system was pretty intense.

Finally the entire Shambhala festival in Canada. The DJ playing obviously increases enjoyment but the stages are so fucking mind blowing that it is without a doubt the best live music experience I have had!

  • People don't pay enough attention driving as it is constantly looking at their phones, adding tiny icons and lines to mark weather systems would be just another thing to distract already terrible drivers.

If you want to look at the weather then pull over and do so, I don't think it has any place as additional distractions in a vehicle imo.

  • I haven't look at it in a while as I was pissed off that it went down the way it did. Although I personally didn't contact indiegogo many people from the backers within the comments did so and indiegogo refused to do anything about it. So they are complicit in this theft too so by extension I wouldn't advise anyone to use their "service" either.

I did have a look at the campaign because of this comment and nothing has changed, lots of people still complaining about planet computers and indiegogo so it doesnt look like anyone got anywhere in terms of getting their money back.

  • Was using connect for nearly two years but more and more issues are being introduced and old ones not solved despite a few updates this last month. So currently I have moved over to Voyager, I prefer the way connect is laid out etc but Voyager actually works and as a bonus I can moderate from it.

  • Do NOT give these fucking cunts any fucking money. I was a backer for this phone on indiegogo.

They are liars when they eventually did communicate any updates during the project. They produced around 2000 units, most of which were sent to people who backed the project years after the first backers on indiegogo because they backed on a different platform.

Ultimately they just shut down the kickstarter giving no actual details. They stole thousands of peoples money through that. They made a product with the money people contributed to back the project and then just shuttered the project so they wouldn't need to deliver a device to these backers.

I didn't realise they were now trying to sell them again but the units that did get shipped were massively out of date and barely worked as it is.

If you want a keyboard on a phone Unihertz are about your only option right now.

Fuck planet computers, thieving fucking cunts

  • Yeh I guess, if you don't like listening to music then sure it is tedious.

There are more ways to listen and discover music than ever before. In the past you had mainly radio or word of mouth and even then your exposure was extremely narrow based on the radio stations tastes. You now have so many other avenues for exploration and discovery.

Basically you want to be handed a list of stuff you are already going to like with no effort on your part, that isn't really tedium, more laziness on your part.

  • You are in the UK now so the chance of it being underfloor heating is very slim indeed unless you are in a new build from the last 5 - 10 years or so, even then I would doubt it though.

It is probably a combination of the amount of insulation we put in walls, floors and roof spaces along with the fact you downstairs neighbour or neighbours if there is a basement will be using theirs and obviously heat rises.

I know many people here that live in flats above other people that will never switch their heating on and live comfortably.

It is likely that those radiators are your only heat sources coupled with presumably a gas boiler to serve both the radiators and your hot water taps. There will be some kind of controls for it somewhere though, not all systems with have a thermostat in place. My current house has 3 radiators with no thermostat. It is either on or off or you can set time intervals for it to switch on and off by itself but there is no temperature based control.

  • Although not exactly the same media I had the same feelings with public vs private trackers in the past when looking for audiobooks. I wasn't convinces that a private trackers would be any better.

Boy was I wrong, MAM was like a revelation to me and I have found everything I have wanted quickly and easily since.

I dont know how private trackers compare from movies / shows etc but if it is anything like my experience with MAM they are going to be significantly better than public.
