  • I do agree that it does get weaker towards the end, I think after King got hit by the car in real life the writing for this series went down hill. I enjoy the first 4 books the most, then it is a steady decline however it never reaches bad for me still and I have still read through it multiple times.

I also enjoy the majority of his books though and a lot of the ones that tie into this universe are amazing books in their own right but the fact they build into a bigger world than that which exists within the books themselves appeals to me a lot.

I will also look into your suggestion :p

  • Yeah i understand what you are saying and that is why everyone's individual needs come into play.

I don't know what country you are in and that can obviously affect things, my banks 2FA is an SMS. I have options in terms of the other things you mentioned, where as you may not have.

  • "Making day to day life functionally impossible" is a bit drastic. I think that depends on each individual person, their needs both in terms of banking and privacy.

My banking app doesn't work on Graphene but I also couldn't care less. I can just as easily log in to my account via my browser on my phone if I need to do something and it isn't exactly hard, it takes all of 30 seconds more than using an app.

I realise in some other countries you don't have that option but were I in the same situation for me that would be enough to change banks, I don't want to be forced to use an app for anything.

Everyone has different lengths they are willing to go to to protect their privacy and I'm willing to make my life slightly harder where as others may not but I think saying it makes life functionally impossible is a bit of an overstatement and it needs to be judged based on individual needs.

There is a list of what banking apps work and what don't.I'll post it in a top level comment for visibility.

  • No worries, I hope you find something you enjoy.

I would say that I personally can't stand politics in the real world or in stories so I am with you on that and I don't believe any of the cosmere stuff focuses on politics at all. Dune is something politic heavy and whilst I made it through it eventually it took me four or five tries and I probably wouldn't return.

I highly recommend trying out at least the first mistborn book to see if you like it if you get to a point where you are in need of something else to read after you've worked your way through some other suggestions.

    Happy reading :)

  • If you like world building then check out Brandon Sanderson and his cosmere related books. They all play out within the same cosmere and all build upon that same world with different stories. I started with Mistborn and think that is still my favourite but it is a hard decision as there is a lot of good books / series.

You could also try Stephen Kings - The Dark Tower and then go down the rabbit hole of a plethora of other books that all happen within the same world and have various different connections to The Dark Tower books and midworld.

N.K Jemison - The Broken Earth trilogy was pretty decent in terms of building the world it was set in and I think is pretty highly regarded for that element.

If you want a bit of space operas then I think Simon R Greens - Deathstalker books are really great and build a whole quirky universe for itself.

Maybe check a few of those out :)

  • I too ran a unihertz titan for a few years, massive beast of a thing but I love a keyboard. Before that I had the blackberry keytwo which was my favourite phone of all time.

I backed the planet computers astroslide before they took everyone's money and ran after delivering a fraction of the units promised and what was delivered was woefully out of date due to their ineptitude.

I still dream of a blackberry key three, but alas my dreams will never be fulfilled and I'm trapped on a shitty touch screen :'(

  • Was on .world. Main points were to minimise centralisation of communities on .world and to maximise the number of people who can see the community based on some defederation and dislike of .world.

Thanks Blaze for supplying a link :)

  • Music I DJ with I mostly play the same genre of music so I have a few playlists for stuff that is outside of my normal genre.

Then within the stuff I usually play I'll have smart playlists for each key (using the Camelot system so 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B etc)

I have a playlist for each month that has everything I have imported for that month of the year.

Some smart playlists to filter out a specific BPM or BPM range.

Playlists containing all the releases I have from specific labels in case I want to do a label only mix.

A playlist containing all the acapellas I have (I don't use a massive amount) so they are all in the same place to throw over the top of some other stuff if the feeling takes me.

Then I also have some playlists that I will create off the cuff throwing in selected artists that I might want to play at a particular time to capture a certain feel or vibe, then usually they stick around and I come back to them occasionally.

A preparation playlist which is a temp playlist where I'll throw random stuff I want to play that day maybe. Like for example I might have like this months additions and marchs additions to my library so I'll just throw both those playlists in the one preparation playlist to play from so they are all in one list.

My music is organised in alphabetical folders within each folder I have a folder for each artist where all their releases go. If I start getting a lot of stuff from one label or end up buying a label discography I'll make a folder for that label and remove any releases that might be in the individual artists folder and place it in the label one instead.

Then I have one random folder that has a few genre specific folders inside where I collect music from artists that I might just have one or two tracks from so they don't deserve their own artists folder.

When I actually listen to music on Spotify I don't use playlists. I want to listen to albums in the way they were intended, front to back usually, so I'll usually just pick what ever album I want at the time. Occasionally if I want to delve into an unknown to me genre I might search out a playlist made by someone else to explore artists I don't know to give me an idea of what I might want to then pursue listening to further.

  • Additionally seen as it is of a similar topic, if you have a NSFW image at the top of your feed that is blurred out, pulling down to refresh the feed also gets rid of the blur effect that is being applied over top of the image.

  • I've been playing New Vegas recently, I'm on the penultimate DLC now having just the final quest left in the main game. It has been a really enjoyable play through (the first time the game has stuck for me despite trying three times before) and I'm still enjoying it although I am looking forward to finishing it all and playing something new again after 90 hours.

    Hope you enjoy!

  • These cunts are the ones that should be put on some disgusting prison barge before being forced onto an aeroplane and sent off to Africa not the poor people that risk their lives to try and come here to seek asylum.

See how long they last last over there with their pathetic way of thinking. We lost our membership in the EU because of ignorant fucking idiots like this, now we have to put up with this kind of bullshit. This country is a fucking joke, these ignorant white English cunts need to fuck off.

Being English is such a fucking embarrassment.

  • I'm not a "younger person" but I do still buy a lot of music within a specific genre. Although most of it is digital as that is what I prefer I have bought music in the past few years on vinyl, cassette, CD and USB. So artists are still producing physical media all be it in smaller quantities.

The last gig I went to earlier this year the merch stand was mainly t-shirts but there were some CDs to be seen, these were bands of "our era" though that I went to see in my teens (early 00s) so maybe they are just holding on to the way things used to be done, I can't speak for any newer bands.

  • I love takedown, it is definitely up there with one of my favourite games of all time, paradise however was a struggle to get the motivation to finish.

I just don't like open world games and the races all felt the same on paradise, all the takedowns felt like it was a repetition of the last and I just wasn't enjoying it by the end.

Also crash mode..... Takedown wins hands down for me.
