I never realized we were trying to terraform the world to be Arrakis.

I imagine that would take a very, very specific law here in America. Corporations screwing over customers is our new national pastime. But honestly as long as I saw the total bill with no change from what was advertised to me that would be fine too.

Why would it be easier for the consumer to get one line item “ALL FEES” on their bill, instead of a more granular, itemized bill that explains the reasons I’m paying for something?

It isn’t easier. It’s just more obfuscating.

Let’s not pretend that me paying $500 two weeks ago for a CT scan which showed a small lesion in my pancreas, then $600 this week for an MRI which was inconclusive due to motion artifacts, with another $500 CT scan recommended in 6 months, all while I pay $550 per month for corporate insurance that then tells me I must pay a minimum of $7000 out of pocket (my $1200 deductible doesn’t apply to these procedures for some strange reason)(equivalent to about 1/6 to 1/7 of my annual wages) before they will pay their share, which also resets annually, while still being expected to pay around $1100 a month for housing, $300 every two weeks for groceries and $650 a month for car note, $240 for car insurance, and all this after I also put taxes that apparently are only useful for either bombing other nations, sending bombs to other nations, or purchasing ammunition for shooting black and brown people when they sneeze wrong (I do support Ukraine’s defensive War and retaking their stolen land) is in any way preferable.

Do not pretend that the American system is in any way feasible or preferable. It’s simply designed to funnel money from us poors to the wealthy.

Would it make a difference? Threatening a witness in one trial when you have several others ongoing and in such a public fashion would have a chilling effect on witness testimony for all trails, or so I would think.

Perhaps because there are bigger complaints to be made about those brands.

To be fair I’m imagining the worst outcomes possible, but they certainly wouldn’t let the vehicle leave with the hack in place I’d imagine.

Assuming they can find them, sure

I wouldn’t expect them to recall. More likely that it will void all warranties and if you ever bring it to a dealership for anything they lock it and charge you for it. Or they go the DRM route and force cars to be always online to verify the software, and going offline locks out those extra features. Also possibly pushing for laws making hacking obscenely punishable.

That will hold true until the manufacturers realize that there will always be someone smart enough to break their software lock, and on a car, there’s always ample incentive to do so.

I actually thought the implication was the opposite, as in the WWE is not nearly as conservative as the people who watch it.

Even just listing general “wanna do this? Learn this” advice is immensely helpful, as you said I have no idea where to start. Automating daily tasks sounds super useful.

It’s also far easier for someone who doesn’t want to be spoiled to simply avoid places where spoilers are likely, than moderate thousands of other people to follow such a rule.
