They aren't, which makes this meme even funnier because in my experience Canadians and Aussies are pretty likely to understand both systems and wouldn't have a problem identifying either.
I'd put money on this having been made by a European.
I use both temp scales, though fahrenheit is more common.
I use both measurements scales, though imperial is more common.
One thing I've never understood though. Metric is more precise for measurements (at least without needing to involve fractional measures). I totally get why it's superior for a lot of things, and indeed it is used in many places for this exact reason.
Why would anyone say Celsius is better? Apart from freezing and boiling temps seeming somewhat arbitrary with fahrenheit, does it not allow for much higher precision with regards to temperature identification without resorting to decimals? Isn't this the same rationale used with metric vs imperial? It seems like a double standard to me, because remembering two temperatures (for boiling and freezing) seems like a small price to pay for a more precise system.
Look, if you're going to operate a dangerous piece of equipment without the safety guard that is your choice. But if you're making an instructional video, at least mention proper safety procedure.
Lots of great answers here already. To me not only is this extremely subjective, this is highly dependent on how you define "best".
Is it the one that exposed me to the most new music, and most help shape my music tastes today? Then I'm going with Tony Hawk or Guitar Hero.
Is it the best entire original soundtrack, the one that best creates the aesthetic of the game? Bastion comes to mind, but I think there are good arguments to be made for quite a few RPGs. Mass Effect doesn't have a lot of hummable tunes, but damn do they nail the feel of the world.
Is it the most technically impressive? I'm going with the original Mario soundtrack. What they did with so few possible notes and so little memory to create different sounds is nothing short of miraculous, and they are tunes and riffs that are instantly recognizable worldwide.
Is it the best individual song? Hard pick but I really adore the main theme of Skyrim to this day.
Is it just my favorite overall? I think I'd go with Earthbound.
Frankly that stuff is already a huge problem and people should be louder about it. So many large companies want you to wade through 30 layers deep menus if AI chat bots before they'll let you talk to an actual human to get assistance with a service you pay for. It's just going to get worse and worse.
You're right, they don't need to make games. Yet they just released Alyx! Counterstrike 2 is known to be in development!
I don't play TF2, so I don't know what they're doing right, but people are still playing it so whatever they are doing is apparently just fine with a lot of players. Bots have been problematic in online games forever, I don't really know if that's a TF2 specific issue. In any case, they've already supported TF2 way longer than most companies actively support their non-subscription games so I'm not sure what level of expectation is fair really.
No one has to like Valve, but painting them as this evil force in the gaming industry is a little bit silly IMO.
"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."
I'd take $10. Seriously. I mean I guess unless the meal was fully paid for and pretty fancy. But with either of these two donuts that feels like hardly a given.
Valve? Profitable at all costs? The same Valve that refuses to give sequels to games for their own IPs because they can't come up with ideas they feel are innovative enough, even though they know they would sell tens of millions of copies regardless of the quality?
The same Valve who literally gave Proton to the Linux gaming community?
That valve?
I don't know why this keeps having to be said, but companies need to defend their IP in court or they risk losing their trademarks. This does not mean companies are evil.
As for not listening to TF2 players, I'm pretty sure the game is still pretty popular so they must be doing something right.
I'm not a valve apologist. I hate that they've shifted their focus from developing games to developing their platform for many years. It's frustrating. But they did just release Alyx. And they are objectively doing some great things for the PC gaming community with the steam deck.
It's honestly very possible depending on the setting. I've gone over two days before without really realizing it while camping. Part of it is just not eating that much, part of it I think is some subconscious desire to avoid shitting in the woods or in an outhouse. But I've had it happen multiple times where we go camping on a Friday night and I realize late Sunday that I never went.
I realize that's not the same as three full days, but I have to think if I was intentionally eating very little it would be attainable.
I'm really excited to hear that. The real time but actually not combat I think is what really killed me when I played them. I was only like 15 years old but I think I just didn't "get" it and tried to just go for it in real time which made many encounters incredibly difficult.
I too question the overall ire against subscriptions.
I understand the hesitance regarding the proliferation of streaming services. It's hard to keep track of them and the sort of transient nature of their content makes it frustrating.
But I don't think subscriptions are inherently bad insofar as the costs related to upkeeping things I want to have access to are ongoing expenses. It follows that my access would be an ongoing expense to support that. It's why people subscribe to the newspaper or magazines. A one time fee (or not paying at all) does not keep the presses running over time.
I pirated a lot of things when I was younger. But as I've grown older it has become clearer to me that without the financial support of those with the means to provide it, many things I enjoy could not exist. I'm happy to contribute so I can keep enjoying things I enjoy.
I'm really looking forward to playing it (I've promised myself to fully beat TotK before I pick it up). I played a ton of BG 1 and 2 when I was a kid and even for me they are hard to pick back up now. A slightly more accessible version of that sounds amazing.
