  • Oh, he's everywhere... He's been giving almost daily speeches or interviews. This week he went to the Daytona 500, gave an unhinged speech full of Russian talking points about Ukraine, grimaced through a very weird pair interview with president Musk where he kissed Musk's ass through gritted teeth, went golfing, and did a press event about how only he can interpret the law now. Today he said he's going to fort Knox to "make sure the gold is there"

He's on the camera so much so that it's obvious he's a puppet at this point - he doesn't have the unaccounted for time to be getting briefs and making day to day decisions. They put him at the kiddie table and are keeping him occupied with events

If you're not seeing it, it's probably censorship. They're having trouble editing together coherent sound bites, it seems like he's regressing. He keeps talking about real estate - he's going to make Gaza a resort, he's talking about what they can rebuild in Ukraine, he's talking about how he needs Musk because contractors give him a mock up and then get caught up in securing financing or something...

  • He's on a world tour, convincing our allies they need to band together against the US

  • This is why I don't contribute. Kudos to you for doing so, but I literally couldn't handle that on a passion project. I get enough of that in my day job

If I could make a living off my passion projects I would love that and deal with what it entails, but dealing with that in my free time sounds like a nightmare.

There's got to be a better way... But I appreciate you and hope you all the best from the bottom of my heart

  • In the US, we have fair use laws. They basically don't. You can put McDonald's in your game because you're parodying it, or because it's part of the real world your work is based in.... They can't without expressed permission

It's more nuanced than that, but that's it in a nutshell

  • True. They will pick and choose quotes out of context that so clearly violate the spirit of the document

  • I don't think that's fair in this case, she's been killing it. She's been drawing hard lines and meeting Trump blow for blow...

As for what's important, she got concessions so far. Trump got to claim a win, but she let Trump use a previously negotiated deal while getting the US to commit to cracking down on the flow of guns into Mexico

And now she's fighting on the bullshit culture war stuff... But you know Mexico speaks a different language and isn't changing the name on their side, right?

The threats against Google are a threat to crack down on a massive US tech company, which is probably (undoubtedly) related to the threat of delayed tarrifs

She's playing the game. If only the liberals would wake up and realize the game has changed too

  • I'm cautiously optimistic they they won't... Not because I have delusions about them growing some integrity suddenly, but because it means giving up all of their power. Their job would literally be to legally justify Trump's actions post hock if they give up their authority

They've spent years stacking the courts to legislate from the bench, they've pushed their own power to the limits. They're (mostly) not doing it for Trump, they're doing it for power and their backers. Plus there's still some neo liberals on the court who will put the process above all else

There's still the question of what happens if the executive branch just continues to ignore them, but i imagine their common backers want some kind of rudder on the Trump/Elon missile

  • They can and will track this

Normally, 100%. The US government has strict opsec and cyber security procedures, so even if someone gets in a neglected door they better have covered their tracks well

But these are a bunch of complete newbies with no oversight. They're not doing even the most basic compliance... They're completely green, they don't know what they don't know yet. The oldest of them is a new grad, one is a high school grad. They're also adversarial to the people who do the actual cyber security

That being said, I wouldn't take chances

  • That wasn't an accident, it was an example of the more common meaning and how the article should be interpreted...

Outside a historical context, recklessly/destructively searching is almost always the meaning. It doesn't even imply you found anything, so you ransack and pillage, you ransack and seize, you ransack but don't take anything

  • Ransacked doesn't mean plundered, you can ransack your house looking for your keys. Although it also has been plundered, we know they've taken data that they shouldn't have at the very least. Their also taking all the money and putting it in a big pile in their office

As far as the lawsuit, they're saying Tesla has been stonewalling them. If Tesla paid a settlement, it would've included a settlement agreement and likely an NDA - when they say more money, it probably means Tesla made them an offer they refused

  • I'm pretty sure it was a political message, just like Samuel L Jackson dressing up as "Uncle" Sam to narrate the show and one of the first lines being "the revolution will be televised, but you picked the wrong guy"

Kendrick Lamar packs layers and symbolism into his work... The guy won a Pulitzer prize for one of his albums and destroyed Drake's career and reputation in another, so much so that Drake sued everyone involved except for him. None of it is unintentional, one of his diss tracks uses nothing but the titles of Drake's songs

I mean, dude choreographed out the PlayStation controller buttons as he rapped about America being a rigged game... The amount of symbolism in that performance is insane, there's no way the dancers being black wasn't a choice in service to his message

The man is savage when he tears into someone... Trump literally left just after, read into that how you like

  • Because no one is asking her anything. No one wants her to run again, no one is rallying behind her

She ran as basically "generic Democrat". She doesn't have the ideology of Bernie, she doesn't have the relevance of Obama or Biden, and by the end of the campaign she toned down the cutting responses that made Trump look weak and stupid - that could have at least made her part of the conversation

She's not being let off the hook, she's been cut out of the picture

  • Well it's signed idiot of the East, but...

It takes a relatable concept, combines it with a couple Korean tropes from manhua, and does it all with fresh art. It's self referential too

Now look at it in context. Clearly this is a webcomic artist, it's not badly done, but it looks like it was done quickly. It has a message - "sorry, I didn't have anything special to say, I'll share the feeling of getting caught doomscrolling"

Based on the name and the comic, the artist seems to have a self depreciating sense of humor... It seems in line with that

It's stupid. It's layered. The layers are stupid. But it's stupid and layered on purpose with a clear message. That's art

It reminds me of a video I saw today where someone bought a pineapple and put it on an exhibit for a laugh, and came back to find a glass case around it. He asked his professor about it, and the professor complimented the way the glass case pressed down on the pineapple leaves.

The guy then owned up to it all, the venue decided to just leave it as is... But they said they had no idea who put the case on it

  • Someone owns that land, because we've decided every inch of the planet is already owned

Human habitation is visible from space. There are parts of every government dedicated to just enforcing just this... Go out and try it, people are arrested for tents on this land, let alone homesteads

  • The idea is they're marketable worker replacements

If you have a call center you want to switch to ai, it's easy though to make them pull up relevant info. It's harder to stop them from being misused

If your call center gets slammed for using racial slurs, that's an issue

Remember, they're trying to sell AI as drop in worker replacement

  • It's not about egg prices. It's a shorthand for inflation, it's nailing Trump supporters down to this one metric

These people are divorced from truth, but they want eggs. It's hard to ignore how much eggs cost. It's apparent how the egg section is half empty

This is a drum beat for people to look through their lying eyes, to pay attention to the world around them despite the lies

  • Are you a technologist, or a

    <something>

    technologist?

Technologist implies operating/maintaining something with enough understanding of how it works to mess with it on the fly. Without an adjective, that just means you're good at technology in general... That's not a job, that's an affinity

  • I mean, you could try, but eventually someone will find you, probably arrest you, and tear down your home
