No choice except the obvious: Pass the cost of the Tax into the customer because there’s no way they’re going to spend billions to stand up a US fab plant anytime soon.
If Elon was out of the picture, I’d be fine with SpaceX. They’ve done some cool things (reusable, self landing, mass produced rockets is a pretty great achievement) and would be in a better spot if he wasn’t at the helm pushing Starship to its doom.
To be fair, NASA would happily absorb SpaceX given the money and ability to. The Falcon series is exactly what they need and they could properly develop Starship.
Even if sanity is restored next election cycle, I think at this point no one will ever trust us again knowing that in 4 years there’s a huge chance all hell will break loose again.

Most of the US doesn’t count eyes or teeth as “health care” either. You have to get separate insurance for that stuff. It’s an interesting history rabbit hole, but also, come on man, it’s 2025!
I was going down the same path, but don’t forget about LABO requiring not just the same sensors, but also the same physical size screen and controllers. So even if everything else was backwards compatible, they’d have to include that text for that game series alone.

It seemed like a straight forward AR/VR device to me. There’s plenty it can already do… virtual displays and apps in 3d space, privately and on the go is just a start… it’s just WAY too expensive for people to want to do so.

Best case scenario here he’s basically asking for is that the open source community forks this to a new project, stops contributing at all to the official one and since he’s announced he will literally have one developer work on this (45hrs per week, down from 4000 supposedly), the new fork becomes the defacto standard and his company is left peddling old wares full of bugs and exploits no one wants.
