  • I see your perspective, but I don’t consider that security in the context of software, which may also explain why they don’t use that word, though I readily admit that it is technically security of a sort. The term usually implies authentication, authorization, and isolation.

  • Like all other patterns, it can be done well or done poorly. I’ve experienced both with monorepos. The pain is greater when it is painful. But if the contribution, build, and release procedures are well designed and clearly documented it can also be nice.

  • I don’t mean to be arrogant. But I assume you realize US politics have implications worldwide. That is why many people in many countries take interest in it. Maybe it would be a good thing if US politics only affected the US, but that doesn’t seem to be the current situation.

  • Was playing with firework artillery shells once in the 90’s on a farm. One of the launch tubes fell over and my friends watched in horror as I had won this little “spin the bottle”. A large shell careened by my face within a few centimeters.

I still can taste the copper and feel the impact that smashed my face and caused me to die in that other timeline. Terrifying.

  • I would and I did. Nearly on a lark I decided to move to Norway right as the pandemic started appearing on cruise ships. I got a job within two weeks and they handled the immigration process for the most part. It wasn’t simple but it was pretty straight forward.

And it was worth it, big time.

It has been decently transparent, certainly when compared to its closest competitors. It isn’t Google. It has a massive library of extensions. They aren’t planning to deprecate manifest v2.

Don’t get me wrong, I also like other browsers and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes from the servo reboot. But Firefox is bread and butter and there is often drummed up nonsense about it.

  • You can also find the definition of magic or telekinesis, but that doesn’t mean we have them, and not all philosophical question are just “masturbation”. It is an interesting question. It is worth taking free will at least axiomatically as our perception of that freedom even if it is truly deterministic.
