  • Yay this is so cool, and I appreciate the well-thought out "PEAQ"! Games as a medium need all the archive help they can get. My only crit is that, because this is a "history", I would prefer a chronological list over an alphabetical list. Maybe Dot is working on making that an option, idk, but I appreciate the work all the same!

    EDIT: Some Highlights for me:

    • I appreciate the "H-rry P-tt-r" choice.
    • This is my first time hearing about that hidden track on Guitar Hero.
    • I did not know that one of the original Pokemon VAs was a trans lady!! Sososo cool
    • AND she did a bunch of deeper voices in the Sonic games? Wtf she is so talented!!
    • The Wolfenstein 3D and Doom drama was an interesting read.
    • Honestly shocked that I did not know more about Rebecca Heineman and Jenell Jaqauys, given how prolific they are on this list. I am very immersed in games media, far more than the average gamer, and I really had no clue. I think that alone highlights how important this work is!!
  • Fun to read your detailed thoughts on the series as whole. Literally the only GOW game I have played is the 2018 reboot, and honestly I found it to be really cool and fun! The story ended up being a bit thin by the end, but I thought that it was really engaging and fun the first time through, as you are experiencing it. There were just enough twists and turns that I felt like i never knew exactly what was going to happen next. Even though I never played the OT, the moment where ::: spoiler spoiler Kratos goes home and takes the Blades of Chaos out of storage ::: was HYYYYYPE!!!

As a Dark Souls fan, I also found the slower pace of the combat to be pretty engaging. I played through all of the extra combat trials (idr what they are called) and beat all the Valkyries, so clearly I was enjoying myself. I liked all of the build options they give you with the loot and abilities. I remember beating my head against a few of the trials before realizing that a build overhaul made the trial trivial. Making builds is one of my favorite experiences in games, so I really appreciated this.

I don't remember my exact feelings about the combat, but I remember my one major criticism was how slow Kratos turns around. They give you that input to do a fast 180, but when you are in a heated fight and you are getting surrounded by enemies, you can forget to tap it with all the other inputs you have to remember. The end result is it can feel like Kratos is resisting you as you try to spin around to hit some enemies behind you.

  • I know this one is a bit late, but I am hearing buzz about this game but it doesn't seem like we've discussed this one here. "Rocket League without cars" is the tongue-in-cheek description i've heard, essentially getting at the idea that this is a soccer/football game with a lot of style that is also more accessible to people that aren't football nuts.

  • The DNC is rotten with big donor money, they will never kick that habit. Excited to see what Hogg does next!

  • The great Bernie blocks of 2016 and 2020 did not destroy my hope for revolution, but they did prove to me that the national DNC will never be the route to that revolution. Mamdani is showing us the way: grassroots local politics, build the base by pushing progressive policies on the local level. I suspect the establishment Dems still have more levers to pull if they want to block Mamdani's policies once he is in office. If we want revolution, we gotta support him and fight to prevent these blocks. Primary any Rep or senator that tries to prevent him from helping the common person.

  • Are tax deductions not a form of federal funding? The Feds are forgoing future income to aid in funding an initiative, I don't see how that is meaningfully different from a subsidy. Obviously this bill is disgusting and transphobic, but I'm not sure what point you are trying to make with this post.

  • The GBA SP could not arrive soon enough. Idk how the hell we survived so long on those dim ass screens. Playing outside in broad daylight was the only option.

  • I agree with others here that generally you should just read what you want and fuck em all. But if you are the kind of person who gets anxiety about this sort of thing (hello, it's me), I gotta say that an e-reader is a great solution to this problem. Also means you can read Infinite Jest without having to lug around all 1000+ pages everywhere you go.

  • Capped framerates are so frustrating. Wish they would just use vsync, which would lock to 30 but will jump to 60fps any time the hardware can handle the scene. Maybe it's not that easy to do in some cases, idk.

  • If u go with this, OP, highly recommend a controller clip like one of these:

  • Can't wait to hear him shout "MY FIGHT MONEYYYYYYYY"

  • dogshit header - the first sentence should have been the hed:

Sabrina Carpenter has revealed alternative artwork "approved by God" for her new album after the original cover sparked controversy.

I thought the hed was saying that she was using christianity to defend her original artwork.

  • VGC did machine translate a Japanese interview, I wonder if the interview was more "colorful" in Japanese

  • yeah i understood what you meant, just was asking for your specifics. Which you also provided! So thank you, I appreciate the added insight

  • when you say "fresh", what do you mean, exactly?

  • The only real argument against lab-grown meat is that it might not reduce emissions that much. But even if lab-grown meat has an equivalent carbon footprint to farm-grown, there is still a critical difference: we don't have to kill innocent creatures to produce it.

In the 21st century, we can easily maintain a nutritious, balanced diet without consuming anything produced by an animal. For this fact alone, humans should be reorienting our entire food chain away from animal-based products, because most animal products are produced via factory farms that functionally torture animals from birth to slaughter. But eating meat is so embedded in our culture - we like the taste of it, and most people don't have to face the harsh reality of slaughtering innocent creatures to produce it, so for most people it's actually HARDER to go vegan than it is to just go with the flow.

I hate these "debates" about lab-grown meat for this reason, because to me the controversy seems made up. There are literally no downsides, it just solves this "momentum" problem overnight. Even if the emissions are equivalent, it's still a net gain for the planet because we dramatically reduce suffering worldwide.

  • In case you didn't click through, the "smears" are alleging that Mamdani will somehow be responsible for another 9/11. These fucking morons (ie, the people that buy these lies) think every Muslim knows every other Muslim and they all have secret meetings to take over the world. Meanwhile, Loomer, Kirk, Miller, Trump, and all their billionaire friends hold actual secret meetings at the Heritage Foundation to devise new ways to decieve, exploit, and kill us for profit, but I guess if a rich person does it to make money, that's just business. Fucking leeches.

  • yeah maybe those people need their own work requirements and accountability structure
