Prusa MK4 vs Bambu P1S

I'd check on eBay for old office laptops. You may find an old thinkpad there
I'm getting back into written reviews. Been doing videos for a while now, but I am backing off due to lack of views/interest. Still wanna get my opinions out.
Favourite game I played in 2023... None really stand out to me, mostly because there were no new games which I wanted that stood out, I hadn't played before, or were new.
I had an inkling for Metroid and being able to play Dread and go back into Fusion was a unique experience.
Experiencing and getting bored with Outer World was also nice. Funny thing is I did the same thing with New Vegas so I guess it's par for the course with Obsidian games for me.
First time playing through and beating Arkham Asylum. Was testing on Linux and got sucked in, was a fun game, and I want to try City when I get a chance.
Was also in the mood to replay Antichamber too. Haven't touch that game in forever and I am glad I did. One of the few games I'd call the Gameplay Atmospheric.
Also got to play The Cosmic Shake, a wonderful through back to PS2 era 3D Platformers. I think this is the only new game I played this year.
From what I saw. It was more Internet Explorer to Chrome.
Back in the day Firefox wasn't as polished as it was now. Think more Open Office than Libre Office.
All machines had IE and it sucked, crashed but was default. Then I tried Chrome and it was good. Then moved everyone to it since the alternatives weren't as good.
Years later, chrome is still good compared to IE, but now Firefox is slightly better. For all intent and purpose it's the same but some qol features here and there made me move.
But for everyone else they don't want or need to move. So until it gets worse than IE they'll stay.
I've had bad experience with Dell and their chargers. Took 2-3 attempts at an RMA to get a working one.
I am currently running a Klevo (branded as Gigabyte) laptop and its working great for my needs.
Also it looks like the Framework Laptop is in budget for you. Not sure if you've looked into them.
You can get away with an Intel Mac Mini, and the iPhone 6.
I think you need to figure out a project first.
No point in saying I'm making an app, use Swift then realize that you needed Objective C since the app was a game.
You also want to look at your coding preference, and existing frameworks.
Node and React is a perfect and quick way make simple web based apps that work on iOS, while also giving your self the opportunity to learn how to use xcode and swift if you need native call functionality.
Unity, Unreal and GoDot are all gaming frameworks that have iOS build support. Again with xcode and Objective C native call support. I think swift also works but I never got it to work 😅.
The project determines the framework, the framework determines the coding language. And yes making a native iOS project counts here too if you feel its the best fit for your project.
Chrono Trigger apparently. It feels longer, but if you are familiar with square rpgs… or Pokemon. You can get through it quickly.
I take my time personally, and like doing the side activities, and listening to the music.
Yeah I can give more context for that. Memory is hazy, but we had our day split into 4 periods, which our classes were held. 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon noon. For half the school year we take 4 classes, like English, Math, Chemistry Religion, and Gym. Then the other half of the school year we take another 4 classes like Civics, Physics, and two of our choice.
In Gr. 9 and Gr. 10 we only had the option to choose 1 extra course, I remember taking music. In Gr. 11 and Gr. 12 it was mostly chosen by us outside of the University track classes or the College track classes.
The issue is Religion was technically a “optional course” that we had to take. I was in Ontario when I was in school. According to the provincial law, you can’t force a student to take religion which is why we were never told. Or the option was selected for us.
The problem is that if a kid wants to take Physics, Chemistry and Biology, but also business and coding, they’d have to choose to not take one of them. Since the school will “encourage” them to take Religion, though I think with the right guidance councillor will help them find a way. Legally they can’t force them, but then why are they there, and you won’t graduate with a catholic school diploma.
I feel a lot of my issues stemmed from more of the staff encouraging the behaviours of cliques, rather than the students being naturally cliquey. Kids and kids and will do terrible things to each other. I feel it’s up to the adults in a situation to give a guiding hand.
Now I was given an out in my last year to back to public school. Not sure what it’s like where you are.
New Super Mario Wii, New Super Mario U and Wonder all has couch co-op.
Before then it was taking turns
It is very paint by numbers. I am happy that they are at least doing more Unique levels now. Like the painted level from Mario U, or the singing Parana plants in Wonder.
Hey internet stranger. Here is another internet strangers 2 cents on Catholic High Schools based on my personal experience.
TL:DR Education is good, but the school might make it so they can't take the classes they want or need for Religion Class (unless they mess up). And at my school there were cliques that socially isolated me and many others, with unchecked bullying which felt encouraged by the staff. I am happy I completed it, but I'd wouldn't want my kids to go through the same thing.
This happened over a decade ago, but the school I went to was both good, and very, very bad. The pro was why you are considering it. The education quality is much higher than the local public school. I was prepared for University much better than those I meet at the University I went to, who went to public High School.
The con was two fold. First some education options were denied to other students due to "optional" religion studies class. Technically a school can't force a high schooler to take religion where I went. But the check box for that course was always checked before I got the class sheet. Which meant that I couldn't choose what optional courses I wanted if it overlap with that religion course.
On a side note they messed up 3 ways in my last year. They couldn't get me in a gym class for gr 12, so I had to goto a gr 10 class, then I took a CAD course which I wanted and a coding, but by the time they realized I wasnt taking religion, it was too late. I was given a speal on how I couldn't get a religion high school diploma, but just the normal one. It was fun especially since.
The second big con. The school was extremely cliquey. Like debilitating so. I was from another community, my bus ride was an hour away. So in Gr 9 I tried to make friends... But the cliques were already made. And I as well as many others were socially isolated. I didn't find the misfits hiding away at lunch in the media classroom until like gr. 10/11. There was another crowd in the art room. This attitude sadly felt encouraged by some the staff, and bullying was out of control, it often resorted to physical violence more than once. I stayed off of the radar but I hated those 4 years. If it wasn't for my activities outside of school I would've been in a really bad state.
With that said, there was another (3 in total) Catholic high school in my local area, which my extended family went to. Apparently the one they went to was so much better.
Retrospectively, I understood how much of a benefit it was to go there. I am happy I was able to stick it out. But I would do a lot of research before putting my kids into a Catholic high school since I don't want them to have a repeat of my time.
Honestly maximizing my phones current daily battery life, so that I don't need to charge it as often.
My previous phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x lasted me 4 years 2018-2022, and the reason I moved off of it, was because it's GPS was wonky and I couldn't use it as satnav, and the Micro USB port was dodgy since I got it and I grew tired of using it. It's battery life is still great and when I do use it as a temp phone, it still is great.
What I did with that phone, was root it, installed Lineage/Arrow OS without Google Play, then installed the bare minimum that is required to get Google Play to work. When I originally did this with my Note 4x the battery life went from barely 1-1.5 days to an easy 2 days depending on my usage. I think it's now at a solid 1.5 days, but it's been sitting in a drawer at 1/2 charge so... meh.
My other trick, is to reduce screen on time. Learned that lesson with an old Blu phone I had. After looking at my battery drain, it's obvious that the less I am on it, responding to messages and looking at emails, the longer it lasts. My solution there was a Pebble Time, so I can look at and respond to arrant notifications and emails. Sadly the Pebble isn't as good as it use to be, since responding to texts is bad, and Rebble isn't as active as it needs to be for me to keep using my Pebble.
My new smart watch is a Garmin Forerunner/Fenix. I had a 235 but it was missing basic watch features, my SO has a 245 which works great for their needs, and I splurged and got a Fenix 6 during a massive discount sale, the watch was over half off. Barely use it for its intended purpose, but for a notification machine that lets me see my emails and messages, all while lasting 2+ weeks, it's nice.
Current phone (Poco X3 Pro) lasts easily 3 days without a charge, and light lemmy doom scrolling or about 8-10 hours of constant screen on time.

You have a few options.
If you want to save money, a Kobo or Kindle is a good starting point. Obviously tracking and logging pre-installed so keep that in mind. But there are ways around the DRM locks, and Kobo can be moodified to run KOReader.
If you don't want the slow and laggy e-reader experience, any Android tablet will do so long as its not those "cheap" ones you find at Walmart. With the exception of the Fire Tablets (they are subsidies), you'll probably want to spend about $150+ on it. A used tablet with Android 8 or newer should work too. KOReader again is available and is the most compatible e-reader app, with Moon Reader as my fallback.
But if Money is no Object, you might as well get an iPad, the pre-installed Book app from Apple is amazing, easy to use, and if you disable iCloud for it (unless that's what you want) versatile. The best bit is, you can even use an iPad Air 1 and it works well. Sure transferring books is a pain, but it can be done with iTunes.
However if you want eInk, then you only option is an Android e-reader. Onyx Boox, Pocket Book, Bouye, etc. The problem with these devices is that they are not cheap, and they will get dropped before an update becomes available. I have experience with Boyue and Onyx Boox. My two Likebooks, are stuck on androids 4.4 and 5, and never had an update since I got them. While my Onyx Boox has surprised me and had an update this week for the baked in apps though the OS version is still 10.
In my view I think you need to get a good but cheap device, old iPad, kindle, etc. Use it and break it. Find what you do and don't like about it, then spend good money for the box that fixes it. I started with my Android tablet and hated the battery life, my Kobo sucked because it has no color. I got a Nova 3 Color and I've been quite happy, but I do miss the MicroSD card.
Thanks I forgot I even had a dropbox account. And everything is deleted files and account.
Better question, what was I playing? Since I completed Metroid Fusion in exactly 2 hours according to the in game timer. And since I set up a DS emulator on my Laptop I've been playing New Super Mario Bros for the first time in years, as well as replaying Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team.
Technically you can voice chat with friends over discord the Nintendo Switch online app.
But yeah I use anything that isn't their service for voice chat.
peer pressure. I fell for it in my TF2 days in high school. A buck there a few bucks there, all for a hat with particle effects that I never got. All because one of my friends I was playing with had one, and I wanted one too.
I learned a valuable lesson, but I was also 15/16 and had the ability of self reflection (and wanting to get Skyrim for $5 instead of a key). Can't expect this level of self control from most teenagers, let alone a 10 year old.
What might be a good idea is to try Game Pass for a few months and see what they settle on. Then for Birthdays or Christmas, get them the games they played the most. Not sure how parental controls are like on it, but I hope they exists.
That being said, outside of Nintendo, there aren't many Online games which don't demand their users to pay for cosmetics with fake in game currency. See CTR Nitro Fuelled, Fortnight, Call of Duty, Overwatch and Minecraft skins.
With that said if changing your system isn't an option, Minecraft Bedrock Edition the only game I am familiar with. There is a skin store, but you can't earn in game currency from just playing (from my knowledge). So if they don't have access to the credit card, they won't be tempted, plus the base game has enough options that you can customize your character well enough.
If you can get a switch (and friends have one already), Splatoon 2/3, Mario Kart 8, and Animal Crossing are all friendly non-microtransaction laden games.
If you are looking for an opinion on the MK4, I've had one since August.
The printer itself is fantastic, but I have gripes.
The auto bed leveling isn't perfect, it tried to destroy my print bed at least once. But with new firmware it hasn't happened since.
The swappable nozzles are great but way too fiddly to remove. Love how clean the process is though.
GUI and interface as a little slow. Wished they gave it more power, or less to draw.
Bed leveling can leave drops of filament on the bed.
But all of this is just gripes. I have very happy with my purchase and would buy another if the need arises.
