  • I do recommend watching the video, it’s a lot more egregious than you might think.

Say that you’re watching an LTT video, and they say that they have a sponsored affiliate link in the description for a product you want to buy.

By clicking that link, you’re basically saying “Thanks, LTT! I hope you get commission off this sale for me, for bringing it to my attention”. Otherwise, you could just go to the site directly, and bring up the product without any affiliate link backs.

So you’ve click on the link, your browser opens up and takes you to the store page with an LTT affiliate link cookie set.

ANY interaction with the Honey pop-up (even clicking ‘Got It!’ when it says that there are no coupons available) will overwrite the cookie to PayPal (Honey’s parent company).

Additionally, Honey works in conjunction with stores to only show certain permitted coupons, even if end users submit better ones. e.g. it might only show HONEY5 for a 5% discount, while there might be a valid BLACKFRIDAY20 coupon code available that aggregation sites show.

There’s also meant to be a Part 2 to this coming out soon, I believe? So there’s probably even more to this story than we know so far.

  • No shit, Sherlock.

Disenfranchise the entire working class, push them beyond the brink of self-sufficiency, demean them for their status in life..

What do you expect to happen? If people can’t afford to live, they’re going to lash out at the society they see as having abandoned them.

  • The American brain should be perfectly adapted to this sort of scenario! Just think it like one of those suburban cookie-cutter HOA developments, but vertical!

As for counting with multiple numbers, y’all love to do that already! feet & inches, pounds & ounces etc.

  • I have in-laws living in China, and honestly - it’s a lot easier to navigate those sorts of high rises than you might think.

Most residential buildings I’ve visited have lots of dedicated lifts, so only 2 apartments per floor share one lift. So you would only need to provide something like: Tower 37, Floor 19, Apartment 2.

The Chinese love their delivery apps, too - their drivers (technically scooter riders) are very used to this.

Now the city of Chongqing is a whole seperate matter, that place is an M. C. Escher drawing in real life!

  • The PS4 is not yet retro, it’s just been re-categorised from ‘current gen’ to ‘last gen’, as the PS5 has taken its place as the ‘current gen’.

When the PS6 eventually launches some time around ~2030, it would still be ‘next gen’ for a while until it reaches mass-market adoption. At that (largely arbitrary) point, the PS6 would become ‘current gen’, the PS5 would become ‘last gen’ and the PS4 would go on to be considered ‘retro’.

Just for reference - by that point in time, the PS4 would likewise also be ~18 years old.

  • When ‘next-gen’ becomes ‘current gen’ (as we see the PS5 now), then the previous ‘last gen’ (ie. PS3) becomes retro.

Reminder to anyone who disagrees with the above, the PS3 was released 18+ years ago. You’re just old, like me - embrace it.

  • Chart taken from Investopedia’s article on K-shaped Recovery; but the underlying principle is the same: Some parts of the economy are performing so well that it masks the other sectors which are struggling.

i.e. the rich are getting so much wealthier, that when looking at the overall average the number is trending positively and not showing that the rest of society is getting poorer. This is one of the reasons when using aggregate measures, the median value is significantly more valuable than the average.

  • It basically happens every cycle, easy to go back all the way to George Bush Sr -> Clinton ( if not earlier).

But the problem is, the current economic boom is even more K-shaped than any other in recent history; half of the population are struggling worse than before, but their plight is masked by an incredible boom for the other half.

I can’t blame the working class for thinking back to ~2016, and remembering things fondly.

Trump will only make the current situation worse, but I can at least understand how the US ended up in its current predicament.

  • The GOP will just think of something snide to call it, Berniecare at best - CommieCare if they’re feeling spicy.

This is the same group of people who refused to call it the Democratic Party for so long, that “Democrat Party” (emphasis on the rat) has basically been normalised.

  • Glass is still the best medium, but it is relatively heavy and fragile - making per-unit costs significantly higher once all factors are accounted for (loss, logistics etc).

While it’s true that a few milligrams of plastic are burned off when cans are recycled - it is still infinitely better for the environment overall than single-use bottles.

  • The issue is more the blatant profiteering off people looking to do the right thing.

There is absolutely no reason for a small bottle of syrup to cost more per serve than buying multiple giant plastic bottles made up of 95% carbonated water.

Matter of fact, it’s counter-intuitive as you usually are charged more for a convenience (ie. a ready to go beverage), versus buying the ingredients separately.

  • The success of the Steam Deck alongside the Nintendo Switch I think is the primary reason MS is attempting to enter the market, and So y is giving it another try.

Out of curiosity, is there any reason why you don’t consider the Vita a PSP2?
