Cool yeah pretty scummy. I thought this meme format was usually used to make fun of people for petty power tripping, but in this case, it seems pretty clear that it's an appropriate form of protest.

Wow-- My thoughts exactly. I assumed after that, nobody would go anywhere near them with their disaster-waiting-to-happen affairs. But then I remember how I used to assume that nobody would be careless enough to make their password "12345678" and it makes more sense.
Add in the fact that the horny debuff gives people like a -30 to IQ, and it really starts to come into focus.
Yeah, that's accurate-- The permit has nothing to do with speech, it has to do with use of public space. Where I'm from, the police will come and block off streets and manage traffic to keep demonstrators safe. Without the permit, everyone would still be allowed to say more or less whatever they wanted, but the logistics of the gathering could create a hazard, and that's just a gray area that everyone is just better off avoiding.
Exactly this. If a company can show me a phone that can do something new that my current phone can't-- not just a marginally better camera or invasive AI assistant-- then I would say to them "I still wish you would have spent your resources on dog longevity, but yeah maybe I'd be into that."
An iPhone isn't a flip phone but better... It's a whole different thing.
I mean do you think Fortnite has anywhere near the same level of ability to disseminate information or surveil people as TikTok does?
And actually it makes a material difference that ByteDance is based in Beijing, as opposed to just having Chinese investors. Those social platforms, movie studios, etc., being headquartered in the US is exactly what makes it different. Can Chinese firms apply financial pressure to compel them to act against the interests of US citizens? Yes, of course, and they do.
But that's categorically different than being legally obligated to comply with the CCP, which ByteDance is.
TikTok is a massively powerful tool of influence and intelligence, in the hands of an adversary that is well understood to proactively meddle with democratic elections.
Yes, obviously the CCP will unabashedly pursue other interference vectors. That should be viewed as more reason to curtail TikTok, not less.
Oh, found it. Sony decided post-hoc that:
a) You'll need a PSN account to play Helldivers through Steam, even though why would you need a PSN account?
b) If you're in a region where you can't create a PSN account, you just can't purchase Helldivers anymore, or play it if you've already purchased it.
