  • Right on the motorway, didnt sleep when I was there, preferred to sleep under my desk at work.

  • Which language provides the most random alphabetically sorted sequence?

Sourced from comments in thread (English from image, Dutch from !Vinny_93@lemmy.world, German from !TJA@sh.itjust.works , Turkish from some rando, Chinese from !idealotus@lemmy.world, Lexicographical from !monogram@feddit.nl)

    Plot with Correlation Scores

We will compute the pearson correlation (r-statistic) score by comparing the base number (column 1) with the corresponding language column. We will also compute the Serial correlation, by creating staggered columns that measure how close a number is in a sequence to the one before it.

It looks like Dutch has the lowest (near 0) correlation to both the base sequence and it's own staggered sequence, with Turkish mirroring it's staggered randomness somewhat.

The least random alphabetic sequences are English and German.

Updated: Added chinese and staggered analysis.

  • altı beş bir dokuz dört iki on onbir oniki sekiz üç yedi

  • Bonk.io, fatal flaw is that the dev simply does not a give a fuck.

    By that I mean:

    • Nazis everywhere, mostly edgelord kids.
      • You just ignore their chat, or compliment them only on their game, and soon they stop with the toxic chatter or leave the room.
    • Script mods that expose parts of the game
      • Could be easily mitigated, but everyone has them.
      • It's not cheating, you can just see more.
    • Sometimes a hardcore hentai image appears on the welcome screen.
      • 1/500 occurence.
      • Rare enough that you're not sure it happened.
    • No mobile support, despite hardware.not being an issue.
      • Just needs a virtual controller stick

    Such a great game otherwise

  • Dots!

  • I wanna taste that blue Cherenkov tang

  • Two Minute Papers memes. I understood that reference.

  • Anne with an E was a surprise favourite of mine. I mostly just resonated with the stiff/gruff characters being totally undone by a loud mouthed girl with a heart of gold and a strong sense of justice. It kind of speaks to the idea that most people are shaped by their hard and tragic lives, but are only a few steps away from being good to one another if shown how.

I also like the unbeatable spirit of the main protagonist who somehow does not let the world get them down, rises to every challenge with spunky defiance, makes friends of their enemies, and sports orange. If Naruto and Anne of Green Gables ever met on the battlefield, I'm not sure who would be left standing.

  • I used to use RedNotebook[0] wayback when, but have since switched to Emacs and am therefore now an insufferable org-mode/roam user.

  • Very true, though I went with the larger countries since I thought they'd be more recognizable and didn't want to fit every single island into the title

  • Most people in China would only need to start in their back yard

I mean, I hear you in terms of the major cities being mostly on the west-coast of China. I'd still argue that the vast majority of the rest of China would just hit water

  • I guess I'm a little surprised by people's inability to extrapolate the overall intent of the post. I suppose it really was not clear...
