  • Ahh that also explains why it seems to be a google only thing. Thank you though, knowing that it’s through the shopping api will hopefully help me find a solution (if it exists).

  • I’ve got a home server that I vpn into for pihole anyway so will just host it on the same machine. In theory I shouldn’t notice too much difference in the way of response time

The main issue is finding the time and energy to get it all set up and running properly.

  • Looks like Google’s Ai Overview has been pushed onto the NZ market. That’s finally tipped me over to make DuckDuckGo my default. Next stop, hosting my own searxng instance.

  • Yeah this might be the one legitimate time to yell “false flag”.

  • I just purchased a new car as well and like you it was the first time. Mine needed to be registered and they couldn’t do that until they received full payment because they registered it in my name. As I was picking up during the weekend they couldn’t just do it when I picked it up as there admin person only worked during the week.

I had reservations about fronting up with payment before I got the keys but it made sense once they explained it. They probably want to take care of all the paper work so you can walk in and out without a lot of faffing about.

  • Railway signalling and interlocking systems. Sure ETCS and other digital systems are far safer, but some dude at a junction used to manually reset the points and crossovers using a giant lever. Now everything’s just a digital system overseen by someone with 8+ monitors in a control room removed from the actual network.

Also, not a technology, but rally cars used to be fully unhinged. I could watch old Group B videos for hours and never get bored.

  • There were chips that suffered from oxidative flaws during the manufacturing process which Intel didn’t tell anybody about until July of this year. You are correct that they aren’t on sale now but it’s not correct to say this was only a voltage issue.

  • TIL

Thank you, as a relatively new Trekkie this is cool to see how it’s been tied back to the original.

  • The grilling exposed Trump’s total cluelessness with regard to his own economic policy, and led Trump to attack Micklethwait as biased.

Yes the notably socialist empire of Bloomberg, used by communist stock traders around the world, is biased against the totally rational and very cool Trump economic “plan”.

Maybe adopting failed economic policies from the 1920s (and older) isn’t a winning formula?

  • Yup, you’ve got everything from chilled liquid, to pop-like anthems, to full on neuro and dark step. Love it.

  • I used to love your card games before you got all political.

Your mom used to love you before you got so fucking stupid

    💀

  • Feel bad for the crew, but damn I love that succinct punchy headline.

  • Jesus H. Christ, they’re actually gearing up for purges and show trials. Accusations of fascism get trotted out far too often, but this is a textbook step on the way.

  • MSFT Rule

  • Only if I’m getting f’d by Microsoft.

    /I use Arch btw

  • Came to say exactly this.

Can’t imagine what it must take for Syria to be a better option.

  • Thanks that’s actually useful to know. Been through a lot of restructures, and obviously there’s a lot of turnover during those times, but people have always left on their own terms.

This is a new one for me.

  • Well I survived the redundancies but some good work friends haven’t. I’m going to be seriously f’d off if the company is cruel enough to let them go this side of Christmas.

  • Biden’s dropped out of the race. Though I doubt the results would be materially different now that Harris is running.
