Let me give you a bit of the outside of the story as well.
For sure tiktok and meta and Google want you in their walled Garden for all the obvious reasons. However, and it's gotten even worse as of late, if you have any kind of computationally expensive but desirable content/data the crawlers/scrapers/scripters will pummel your site. Despite how annoying you find the captchas and bot detection a computer doesn't give too shits about it and at this point they basically serve as a rate limit or effort to make your content too computationally expensive to scrape and be worth it.
While accounts don't necessarily solve this problem they do help as another impediment.
Consumer cards are often actually bigger than the datacenter counterparts.
Most CPUs and GPUs in a rack just have low profile heat sinks and depend on the chassis to move the air. Since a datacenter doesn't care about noise the chassis will just have a shot load of fans running full tilt over the fanless components.
Though when you get up to the large ML cards from AMD for example they have like Kleenex box sized heatsinks on them.
It isn't true Arch though, so the Arch forums would never accept them. They would have to go install from scratch to be able to get "I use arch btw" badge.
I disagree that he is effective in anything other than being not Trudeau and being a contrarian in the American conservative mold. If he was at all a good politician he would not have fumbled this election the way he did. The liberals made some good plays but if PP had spent one minute reading the room instead of playing party over country he might have been PM.
If he manages to hang around until the next one he will probably get in when the left splits again but it won't be because he's good at his job it will be because he has a pulse and a name on the ballot under conservative.
The conservatives still turned out a lot of votes. The left just voted strategically to keep them out. Next election the left will split again and we will get the conservatives again. Given the parties recent history even if it isn't Poilievre I'm sure they will pick another alt right sycophant.
Same regarding the last referendum. When that happened I knew for sure it had to be introduced in a smaller lower stakes way which is why I was pretty happy when London used ranked choice (a bright spot for a city whose politicians suck more often than not). Removing that is one of the things I hate most about Doug.
You will never get it top down. The major parties all prefer and benefit from different systems.
If you truely care about electoral reform your best bet is bottom up. Start getting your preferred form into municipal elections. We almost had that in Ontario until Doug showed up and fucked us.
Like the Americans they are party over country. The country has major economic issues. I don't need to hear the prattle on about shit being "woke" or whatever. I need them to provide actual solutions. The modern conservative party like their American counterparts can't govern, they just go on about bullshit and attack the other side.
The reality is that there is no tax break large enough to make up the difference in costs for a lot of things. Even with tariffs China is still cheaper.
Everyone I've known who has done has always been an incredibly low information voter. It isn't that hard to make a choice. Expecting to have a federal party that matches 100 percent of your beliefs is not realistic and presenting it as an option is just used to suppress votes.
I totally believe him when he says that. I'm not sure he remembers what he had for breakfast yesterday.
The people around him sure do though
