  • That's the point, discord isn't just a VoIP app. It has all that other stuff too. 90% of my discord usage is text based. But IRC is dead now, so it is what it is. I was just as pissed about it when discord initially came around as I am now, but this is what we're stuck with until something new takes over

  • I'm not an iOS user, but I checked the app store website and I can see several apps. Voyager, mlem, Arctic, Thunder, Avelon, Echo to name a few.

Not sure what you mean by 'only apk', every android app is an apk. That's what the play store distributes too. But yes, there are several options on Google Play as well. Voyager, Sync, Connect, Boost, Summit, Eternity, Thunder, Jerboa, Raccoon, etc.

I personally have tried more than half of those, and every one has some design aspects that I dislike, but I settled on Voyager for now. Still hoping that the Rif developer ports their old reddit app

  • I'm also using Voyager on android. There are other apps, like Sync if you had used it for reddit. There are dozens of apps and instances you can use, so if there's ever anything you don't like, you can probably find an alternative.

  • Tipping has always been a stupidly arbitrary thing to base tips on anyway, especially for delivery drivers.

As a driver, I accept runs based on dollar per mile because that's what actually factors into my income. I don't care what you ordered unless it's 100 items at the grocery store with cases of water bottles. The price is always irrelevant

  • There's enough leaks at this point, it's pretty safe to assume Nintendo is just being Nintendo on the announcement. I swear I play leaked builds of half their games before they're even announced these days.

  • Yeah the OP is the opposite of my experience with ADHD. I'm fucking terrible at moving from one task to another, that's literally the hardest part about it. I just studied Japanese for 12 hours straight yesterday instead of working or writing any code, just because I got the sudden urge. I haven't actively studied Japanese since 2020 so I'm just reviewing shit I already learned years ago. I'll do this for a couple days until I either burn myself out or find a new thing to fixate on.

If I'm in burnout, I'll start rapidly changing between tasks, playing 10 minutes of every game I own chasing any shred of dopamine I can find, or scrolling through short form video content for hours until I find something that catches my attention and then I'll be fixated on that for anywhere between 1 full day, to about a week.

Like I have coping techniques and medication, but they only go so far and sometimes I just can't seem to reign it in. Sometimes I can fixate on work or study tasks, (e.g. Japanese) but usually it takes a Herculean amount of effort, determination and discipline to actually control my focus to what I need it on. When I manage to direct my focus to the important stuff it feels like a superpower to fixate on it, but those moments are few and far between.
