  • A coworker of mine was an computer engineer in the early 2000s, but is now a warehouse director. She told me she helped her son build a new pc but it was having heating issues. I asked about fans and she said it only had 2 intake on the front with no exhaust. Told her a local shop that has cheaply priced good fans. She said computers have changed a lot in 20 years. I helped in about a week ago with choosing storage blocks, had no clue nvme even existed.

  • I always find it funny when my black cat tries to be sneaky by lying on the white carpet at night. He always gets surprised when I go straight to him and start talking to him. He thinks cause it's dark that he's invisible, but really there's just a massive black orb in the dark living room now.

  • About 20 something games. I usually go through whenever I add new things and delete things I'm not interested in anymore. Most of my wishlist is either early access stuff I'm watching reviews on, or stuff not out yet.

  • I have a Kraftwerk sticker on my coffee thermos. A guy at work asked what it was, I said it was an influential electronic band from the 70s/80s. He said, "oh. So people actually listen to techno? It's not a joke?" I said, "yeah, I guess so."

  • Switching to Gentoo has been the best. If I don't want something I just blacklist it in my make.conf. getting errors from an odd package? Blacklist. Don't want systemd or gnome software? Blacklist. It's great. My shit runs insanely fast and my system only breaks when I explicitly do something stupid, and it's usually just one minor adjustment away from getting fixed.

  • I've been using Qobuz. Sure it's still paid, but I can buy downloads for any of the music on there. Same with Bandcamp. I've been buying one album every paycheck and putting them on my storage blocks, then putting them on my media player and phone. I support my favorite bands, and get to keep something in return. On top of all this, I hunt down CDs. I've got a massive physical music collection, and it's nice.

  • Both of my cats like being held like babies. My younger boy, Spooky, asks to be held at least once a day. My older boy, Joe demands one hug and kiss daily, if he doesn't get it he will follow people around whining until it happens. Joe is 13, and Spooky is 1.5 now.

  • Nice job. I've been working on my gentoo system. I keep getting weird errors about nullmail not emerging correctly, but it only happens when I use binary flags. After I get that solved I'm updating my carry laptop to run openbsd, swapping fvm to xfce4 or dwm.
