  • I'm not seeing Elden Ring anywhere in the top voted posts, but if you're looking for something like BotW, you should consider it. Always somewhere new to explore and very non-linear. The lore of the world is insanely rich, but there basically is no story.

Tunic is awesome. Lots of exploration and lots of secrets to find. Don't look anything up, it's a very unique experience.

Hollow Knight is the first metroidvania I liked. Great exploration, but it's not exactly going to test the limits of your rig. Similar to the Souls games, lots of lore, little story.

Rimworld is so non-linear it's literally a story simulator. It creates unforgettable experiences and has infinite replayability. You can save and quit at any moment, so it's good if you only have an hour or two (but you could easily put hundreds of hours into it).

And I want to echo others who said Outer Wilds, RDR2, BG3, and CP2077.

  • Outer Wilds is an unforgettable experience, but has very low replayability. Everything is knowledge based, and playing the game means figuring everything out for the first time (so be sure not to look anything up).

But it's all exploration, it has an excellent story, and I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Idk how all companies don't post public keys for anyone representing them to their website. We're seeing so many scams these days, from fake recruiters with bogus job offers, to fake lawyers filing bogus takedowns. The ability to prove you are affiliated with who you say you are is a solved problem, none of these scams should be possible, people just don't realize it.

  • Or 1 step even further and use a btrfs partition with subvolumes for root, home, etc. Then you're not even stuck with a specific amount of disk space for each. (But you may be limited depending on the specific distro installer support for btrfs. In theory you can always just mount the subvols yourself and point the installer at them, but YMMV).

I recommend keeping a separate boot partition though.

  • Because DFU exists. We shouldn't need an idle Bluetooth radio and proprietary arbitrary code execution to update the firmware on a device.

There are so many unnecessary attack vectors involved in this process, it should raise some red flags.

  • They think raw milk is natural, but would they still feel that way if they knew how selectively bred all dairy cows are at this point? The DNA of the dairy cow is where the milk manufacturing pipeline begins. We didn't select for sanitary milk from the udder because we knew it could be pasturized later in the pipeline.

  • What the? I'm literally saying what action to take, what is happening? Is there maybe a bug where you only see the first few characters of my post? Are you able to read these characters I'm typing? Testing testing testing. Let me know how far you get. Maybe there's just too many words for you? Test test. Say "elephant" if you can read this.

  • we will not land in a society where the general public profits from not having work. It will be the same owners of capital profiting as per usual.

If we do nothing, sure. I'm suggesting, like the article, that we do something.

The only sentiment I took issue with was the poster above who suggested that somehow the solution would be to delete/destroy illegally trained networks. I'm just saying that's not practical nor progressive. AI is here to stay, we just need to create legislature that ensures it works for us, especially when it couldn't have been built without us.

  • I didn't misinterpret what you were saying, everything I said applies to the specific case you lay out. If illegal networks were somehow entirely destroyed, someone would just make them again. That's my point, there's no way around that, there's just holding people accountable when they do it. IMO that takes the form of restitutions to the people proportional to profits.
