  • Weren't they both running the new floor? That would mean that they both should be underweight?

I suspect they mucked up the driver ballast, minimum driver weight is 80kg, so if you weigh less than that the team have to add ballast. I've heard that they got the ballast the wrong way round between the two cars and Lewis weighs more so his ballast is less...

  • I agree it was terrible management from the team during the race, they were begging Lando to move over rather than say what we saw during the end of the Nico/Lewis era at Merc. That nastiness is a golden example of why if you agree before the race to do something you absolutely have to stick to it, and why letting them race will eventually boil over into the unacceptable once the honeymoon of "this is fun" is over. Charles and Carlos were pretty sick of each other earlier this season when going wheel to wheel, another honeymoon over now that Carlos is under real pressure to find a new seat.

And they did agree to it before the race, thats the key thing here. Not sticking to what you agreed before the race is far far worse.

  • I ran Qubes for a while, really enjoyed the way it integrated windows so I could use MS Office (mandatory job requirement) as apps rather than a VM as I normally do. I realise you can do something similar with Winapps for Linux but to have it baked in was rather nice.

  • I don't like team orders but banning them just doesn't work as there are so many grey areas to trigger them, so they are a part of the sport.

The biggest thing is that this would have been agreed before the race, if McLaren were serious bout giving Lando the win at the expense of his teammte as with Ferrari in Micheals day, it would be been agreed no later than the Sunday morning brief. The fact that it was not, means that Lando had already agreed to abide by any team orders benefiting Oscar. Landos engineer even said as such over the radio to him as this played out.

By not abiding by what was pre agreed means a complete lack of trust from the Team and Oscar, it also builds in an expectation for Oscar to behave the same when the situation is reversed, in both directions. McLarens biggest strength over Red Bull is that they have two great drivers, Red Bull only have one this season. They will gain more working as a unified team than what Max can achieve on his own.

People can suggest that Lando should be more selfish, but the ideal time to get that nailed down is during your contract negotiations as with Micheal and his Ferrari teammates, or Max and Checo. Failing that you can try during the race weekend before the actual race, but it is going to be much more difficult especially when you have two drivers who are told they are number ones.

  • This is going to keep happening as the cars are a lot closer at the front than they have been for years unless the FIA start clamping down on it. You can't overtake if you can't make the corner and you cannot make the corner if you lock up both fronts because you went it far too hot. Even if Lewis braked to a standstill Max would have still locked up and over shot as he did earlier in the race

  • They are closer to Ferrari before todt joined and booted out all the talentless but connected hacks Ferrari employed back then, except with a smaller budget. They really didn't help themselves sacking or pushing out people who knew what they were doing and replacing them with corporate Renault yes men who know less about racing than they do about quantum physics.

  • Yuki just isn't rated by Marko and Christian, when was the last time that they talked about promoting him? I really really can't remember when. Which is unfair on him as he's really improved and done well against Danny. Regardless he just isn't fast enough to beat Max.

Instead they talk about Danny getting promoted, still at the last race, which is mind boggling with how inconsistent he's been vs. Yuki. However it would be the most Danny thing ever to get promoted and suddenly be amazing against Max so I do not rule out him turning it around completely.

Lawson isn't going straight to Red Bull, he couldn't even get into the RB ahead of Danny or Yuki this year. He has to wait for a decision around Danny first, so he's behind him, and I feel bad for him. He might be fast enough but who knows without him being given a shot in the RB first.

  • I think it's more complicated with Lewis to Red Bull: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/f1/news/12433/13014133/lewis-hamilton-says-red-bull-chief-christian-horner-contacted-him-over-meeting-following-claims-of-talks

If I remember correctly it was Lewis's dad that had the conversations with Horner, but I forget who started it. This was before Ferrari looked to be on. Ferrari for Lewis wasn't a valid destination until Fred had his feet under the table as they were a shit show before then.

I agree about Carlos, that's what I was getting at for all three drivers. Red Bull now have a complete mess with no replacement for Max if he just fucks off, and it seems he can thanks to Marko.

  • Very unlikely that they turn it around before 26 to the point that they can win a straightforward race. It's so far off for Fernando he'll be older than Brundle before he gets a class leading car again.

At his age I would have taken the Merc, 2 wins out of 3 and could have been 3 out of 3. Merc are far more likely to be at the front than Aston in the short and long term. This wasn't a choice between Aston and Alpine...

  • He was a luxury they could afford while they had the significantly fastest car, but now things have leveled off he will cost them the constructors if they aren't careful.

If rumours are to be believed they turned down Lewis, Fernando and Carlos to resign Checo. I wonder what would cause them to keep a clear number two driver?

  • If you think any team would keep an underperforming driver whose dad doesn't own the team then you've already purchased that beach.

Aston haven't shown that they can fix things in the short term is what you are saying, Alonso can't wait two years at his age and doing so is mad.

  • The difference in current trajectory of Merc vs. Aston? With Merc he would have a good chance of getting wins next season and Antonelli is not certain to get into Merc after one year, especially if Alonso out performed George.

  • I suspect he's still hoping for Merc, it's still a moonshot for Merc to sign Max, so they are hedging between Carlos and Max. Red Bull would also become available if Max left, no way Red Bull would promote any of the two RB drivers through choice and Carlos would be their best bet.

  • It's dependent on whose corner it is as judged by the rules and stewards, your corner or 50 50, you were pushed, their corner and you ran wide. At some point you can't make the corner and it was never yours to stay in front without going wide.

You'll still get the penalty if you stayed ahead going wide (not pushed wide) and stay ahead by not handing the place back. We see that all the time already...

  • The only reason he was out there was because it was faster, it's the only reason they all do it. If it's meant to be part of the track then it would be in the race director's notes for where the track limit is for that corner.

So basically he can fuck off as it should be the same for everyone, that's the whole point of the race directors notes to make that clear to every driver. It ceases to be an advantage of everyone can do it so making it a grey area is his point here.

Now when it comes to overtaking if you get pushed wide that should be interpreted one way with it absolutely not counting to your track limits violations and if you choose to run wide to hold onto the position that should be interpreted the other way.

  • Yet Lib Dems gained a ton of seats with over 70, and Reform only 4 at the time of me writing my message. Lib Dem wasn't that far behind total percentage of the vote vs. Reform, 12% vs, 14%, which considering they are almost opposite platforms means we shouldn't be talking about Reform in isolation.

Labours total vote percentage is down from 2017 and only a few percent up from 2019, so the Tories collapsed losing about 20% of the vote from 2019. Labour following the center right meant they lost more moderate votes to Lib Dems and were not trusted on right wing issues as Reform picked up those votes.
