Google is charging its employees $99 a night to stay at its on-campus hotel to help "transition to the hybrid workplace."

  • i see it as a philosophical question really: is a digital copy equal to the original? I postulate that it isnt - a copy is a different object, it resides on a different computer, and occupies space on that computer's storage media.

    so, if you're making a copy, it's not really "piracy" because the copy you made isnt the original. the original has value (imagined or otherwise)

  • oh no, my job was offshored by IBM - I decided I wasnt going to work anymore and did that for a few years. then I ran low on funds and found a new job. I could quit now & do the same thing for a few years but I've got a different plan this time around, it'll drastically reduce my monthly expenditures allowing my next "retirement" to much longer - possibly permanent.

  • I recently discovered tomato powder, and it's a "just add water and spices" style of sauce but the powder itself is a bit expensive.

    economies of scale being what they are it may be cheaper to buy pre-made pasta sauce in a jar. depends on how often you plan on eating pasta, really.

  • eh, you're free to retire in your mid 30s. it's easy. i retired in my late 30s, then went back to work again when I ran out of money a few years later. it was nice, i look forward to retiring again.
