  • There is never going to be an AI that fixes that

Don't be so negative. Of course AI, if sufficiently trusted, could fix the existence of the human race and by extension the existence of bullshit management.

  • Well, I just vaguely remember the times before dynamic search engines came along, when it was all just manually compiled lists of websites. It might be nice to have some of those again, not to fully replace dynamic search engines but as an addition to it. I guess those awesome... lists on GitHub for some programming topics are like it.

  • Top AI power? What does that even mean in an industry that is barely 3 years old and hasn't really produced anything of measurable significance other than a whole lot of blame diffusion?

  • Those who want it have been using it for 20 years already with Second Life. Oddly enough, none of these new metaverse makers take any lessons learned from that but I guess then they would have to admit that VR is crap that nobody needs for immersion.

  • Do you think “Dance hype craze” video 574 is going to be something we remember fondly in 2040?

Well, I know I remember the Hamster dance website fondly, does that count as a dance hype craze?

I also remember many Youtube videos from many years ago with some amount of nostalgia, e.g. Chocolate Rain or Mocha in "His First Broccoli" or the Yogscast series Shadow of Israphel.

I know some old shows and movies hold up well but others are pretty bad too. And the newer ones have an even worse ratio there.

As far as cringe goes, I think some of the series you mentioned, like Friends, has a good percentage of that too.

  • The tricky bit is recognizing that the requests are all from the same source. Often they use different IP addresses and to even classify requests at all you have to keep extra state around that you wouldn't need without this anti-social behavior.

  • I really don't see any downsides, if anything they should ban all the major social media platforms and encourage diversity of platform ownership among the platforms used in the public discourse to strengthen freedom of speech.

  • Well, I was more using the term in terms of the industry than the actual software. The thought of AI of the kind we currently have having intentions of its own didn't even occur to me.

  • It might also be necessary to find new ways of discussion that do not favor short, emotionally impactful but factually wrong arguments so much. Our political discussions tend to have a lot of repetition all over the place anyway that is a waste of our collective time.
