  • The worst bit is that that would be true at those tariff rates even if the supplier paid for it. it would just be priced in. In the end it is always the buyer who pays for additional costs of that magnitude. Virtually nobody has profit margins to just absorb that and those who do are selling luxury products and won't reduce their profit margins either.

  • Not to mention that building factories in the US will be quite expensive since a lot of those require machinery, building materials,... that also have to be imported. Even if you wanted to set up a whole domestic supply chain for those too you would need machines (and expertise) to make the first machines. Not to mention that it would take decades to setup all of that completely from scratch in the US and you would likely still have to import at least some raw resources.

  • Usually the goal when funding stuff like this is to buy some influence to control major decisions. I wouldn't put it beyond an independent foundation, to take just one example, to drastically reduce the deadlines between confidential disclosure and public release where some government or corporate controlled organization might set some that are more made for the slow speed of large org bureaucracy.

  • Is it possible to do in the US where most of the qualified people already do other jobs and a lot of the rest had the reading comprehension of a 6th grader before they had the brillant idea to abolish the department of education and remove funding from universities in other ways though?

  • The relevant question here is if you are in Turkey because if you aren't this is a much bigger deal than if you are.

Also, does "restricted access to your account for users" mean for all users or just for those in Turkey?

  • As a German, i.e. someone from a country which was forced to have a good long look at its past and reject it within living memory, the way the UK reveres its own Empire past is downright bizarre. It can only be compared to things like the quasi-religious view the US have about their founding fathers or the way Russia thinks it has a natural right to rule countries around it.

  • Isn’t the idea that if you advertise you will get more people looking at/downloading your app and therefore rank higher?

That is what advertising companies would like you to believe but the effect is nowhere near this drastic, otherwise they would be showing double-blind studies about the effectiveness of advertising to all their customers all the time.
