  • I love emulating old Gameboy games on my phone. It can play things all the way up to Switch, but there's sort of a nice mix of nostalgia and simplicity to just go monotone. No micro transactions, no server connecting, nothing. Just me and the bits.

I guess that's not terribly beneficial, unless you count my mental health.

  • Full agree on the screw situation, although my most recent mobi addressed that with a sort of... turnable plastic lock thing? And a built in heatsink and "shield" for the gen 5 and 4 ports, so I haven't had any issues with heat. I get the sense we'll have a better standard as time goes in though, Gen5 is really really new.

But even the gen 3s are lovely. Maybe I just hate SATA cables, haha.

  • Given they also said the farms barely break even mostly means produce doesn't pay well enough to afford a good deal to workers, either. These things should cost quite a bit more but don't thanks to immigrant exploitation.

Not sure what the good deal solution would be, though. Still, people attacking undocumented folk definitely live in a racist fantasy world.

  • Mike Lee is a notoriously despicable person even by GOP standards and the bill doesn't have any legs. Like, just a week ago he said terrible things about the Minnasotan politicians who were shot dead in their homes, and he's also the one who was pushing to sell off public lands (which he was bullied out of; also seems to be in the pocket of the Mormon cult).

The US stance on NATO is complicated under the current US regime but I doubt it'll be by this assholes bill.

  • Does anyone actually think it's pro-capitalism? Though the social psych equivalent to this is just the concept of the harvesting dilemma and the main lesson is generally pro government regulation (regardless of economics). Social dilemmas like this apply to any common good everyone benefits from, be it air quality, military defense, public parks, public safety, etc. (when explaining, I use a few right wing examples too, even if I am a bit ACAB myself lol).

Basically, they simply don't exist without some form of social agreement not to be a shitty greedy asshole. Government being the most obvious way to control that.

  • The news was talking about the patchwork, and yeah, you'd think it's a federal issue but the injunctions can only apply where the lawsuits were, hence the 22 states that sued. At least for now.

At least that's my understanding. It likely can't stay in this limbo for long, anyway. Will this court be corrupt enough to say it's constitutional when it's clearly not? I really hope not.

  • Iirc, the way it'll work out is if you're born in one of the 22 blue states with an order, you get to be a citizen. If you're born in a red state, though, you're fucked. It's a very strange issue to patchwork, though, even stranger than abortion.

  • You know, as a spoiler I get the sense he'll just make things that much worse for Adams. Friends in NYC I talked to said the only thing they didn't particularly like about Zohran was potential Defund the Police stuff. Yet, Adams and Cuomo are both pro-police centrists, so that vote gets split (aka deplorable vote).

You know, it's like how everyone saw RFK Jr. as a dem spoiler until polls showed he was taking more from Trump (hence him taking a bribe to drop out).

  • Statistically, no. Not even at the time of your writing; it's ranked choice and he cross promoted #3 guy who had 10ish %. Man it's so lopsided Cuomo threw in the towel.

I guess the real nightmare is whatever happens in the general, but even if Cuomo runs it's likely only going to hurt Adams.

That said, "don't give me hope..." applies to changes in the DNC nationally, lol.

  • I mean, we are getting news right now from Lemmy, although admittedly it's link to a source (but most just view the headline).

But yes, getting it from viral videos and influencers, yes, that's problematic. Plus this is a little more vetted than mother-fuxking Tiktok and Insta

  • People shit on the franchise because they did kind of rush production, but honestly they hold up if it's what you're into. It's just kind of sad they can't all be AC2 quality, that was probably the best of the lot in terms of storytelling, intriguing exploration, etc. I still remember climbing into that girl's place in the opening as Ezio.
