What are your thoughts on this? "How did Mozilla Firefox go from being the best and most beloved browser to suddenly the worst company and browser according to Reddit"

  • I don't trust Reddit anymore, and to my knowledge Mozilla has always put user rights before corporate greed. Also Mozilla is a sort of non profit. So you're gonna need more than anecdotes to change my mind.

  • I think the most interesting thing in this article is the fact that some concepts central to semantics (analogy, connotation) or psychology (bias) kind of emerge naturally in multi layered neural networks of sufficient size. Also that it can sound like different personalities (overconfident, secretive, delusional) if you manipulate the weight or the proximity of features.   • I'm pro-Palestine, I think what Israel is doing in Gaza is definitely a genocide, but seriously, what do you think would happen from a geopolitical standpoint if Biden said "yeah, I think the ICC is right, please stop this genocide Bibi"? The US can't afford to lose Israel as an ally so it needs to be subtle.

  • In the last years I've tried Ubuntu, Debian, crunchbang and PopOS. A few months ago I asked IT if I could change the os on my company laptop from Windows 10 to Linux Mint. It means I have to stay outside the AD domain, but since almost everything (email, teams, OneDrive...) is available on the web, the only downside is not being able to use the wifi projectors. I can live with that. Mint is simple to use, easy on the eyes and stable as hell. And windows games run really well with proton, except maybe Starfield but I can wait :)
