  • I dunno, maybe they have to prevent genocide so they don't make an ass of them selves on the international stage (again) and embolden even more Islamic terrorism? That might be it.

  • Fascist theocracy causes war, obviously. Religion can be personal, it's when it's politicised the issues arise. See the US, Israel, Iran, India.

  • Eh, no. Ethics committees for you.

  • Oh great. The liberals have been active in the polls. No wonder the liberals of my country are salivating to join.

"It's not our fault, it's the EU! Now let me rinse off my sadness in this money pool..!"

FYI, republicans are "classical liberals"... which is liberal with less taxes and less accountability, but still liberals. Same with "social democrats". Shills, the lot of them.

  • Disgraceful... wearing clothes in public. How dare she?

  • The part where China wants less of it so they can call it their own.

The central kingdom shall rise again, says the Chinese nationalist..

  • A locally run, self hosted AI assistant that can do everything ChatGPT can do, where you have control and ownership of the model and can mix with open models that are updated automatically, - and a mechanism where it can be instructed to design widgets as well as other simple desktop features that adhere to system wide privacy and security policies on request...

    ...yes.

  • You want open firmware, so this is not a DE problem.

  • Open source locally run LLM that runs on GPU or dedicated PCIe open hardware that doesn't touch the cloud...

  • Homie, they're working on that.. but, there are extensions :>

  • Open source AI assistant in GNOME... that can generate "art"...

...so I can generate images of Elon Musk getting mistreated at the workplace as a programmer...

    ...for reasons...

  • Mmmm I'm guessing access to publishing rights, as a games publisher. It's easy to negotiate with yourself...

...like musicians haven't been fucked enough by the IP industry. Word to Max Romeo.

We need to send UMG to outer space so that they can find another race.. or maybe aim for the sun.

  • They aren't meant to be "flexible". Immutable means it's static, read only. You replace one image with another.

In the case of Silverblue you install using overlays, like Flatpak or toolbox/podman.

With NixOS you do get images, but in the form of clojures. BUT it also handles environments on a fundamental level, so you don't need to reboot to install new system applications or services.

Have you considered Vanilla OS? There's also uBlue, but I have hopes for Vanilla because it is user-firsf distro, whereas uBlue is more an off-shoot of Silverblue meant for users, but Ruth and same issues as with Silverblue.

Vanilla 2.0 is coming up soon and it seems like a great alternative for people with little to no know-how, or people who don't want to mess around and find out.

  • I'm learning an esoteric computer build system that is wreaking havoc on my ADHD laden brain. It's a huge undertaking with a steep learning curve. With it I'll be able to create ephemeral services for web and play. It's going to be grand, but taking 10x times more than your average bear to learn something is tiresome.

But I'll get there. I'll hopefully see the fruits of my labour soon.

Also, I have to prepare a set for a musical performance. So busy, busy, busy.

  • Tell them that if they bring in Arabs that possibility diminishes...

    Pulled between Jews and Arabs.

  • Been using Silverblue for a couple of years and dipped over to NixOS for a project.

I'm all giddy for immutable systems to take over, because it is truly the safest way a user can run a system. The added bonus being system rollback is built-in by default and not some secondary service.

  • Been using it now since it hit Fedora Silverblue as an option. This is very "it works on my machine", but I've rarely had any problems with it - like even in Jack2 bridge mode. Recently I've noticed nothing. It's just there, working in the background, doing what it's supposed to do.

To clarify, it was on my workstation laptop that I also use for leisure.

  • "It works on my machine"... great.

  • Yeah, all of this is great, but it's hard to recommend open source DAW's when they are inconsistent.

Making tracks in a DAW means they should be accessible at least a decade later, for archiving purposes. Stems are great to have, but you need to be and to retain mixing chains as well - because that can't easily be remembered.

I am looking for DAW's to recommend, and as it stands I won't be recommending LMMS until we see the fruits of their labour. No diss to them and maybe they need to seek funding somehow to bridge the gap so to speak.

I'm actually considering switching from Ableton Live to Bitwig, and that's because I want to switch my creative workstation to Linux, but I also need professional features and accountability.

But, I'm also hoping ZRythm will get there in regards to clip launching and automation, so that's where I place my bet.
