  • These are some really wild and generalizing claims about Iran and Iranian people and honestly you should be ashamed of yourself.

As someone on the left in the US I want to make it clear I think you are behaving in a pathetic way and yet I would never draw conclusions about Israelis or Israel the way you just casually did about Iranians even though Israel is committing a Genocide Of Palestinians. There are many Iranians with a wide variety of views on Israel, but no.. they do not desire a genocide of Israelis the way Israelis desire a genocide of Palestinians that is the ugly truth and yet even as I perceive it I know there is nothing inherent to Israelis that makes them incapable of seeing the humanity of Palestinians because I know all too well how easy it is to fall into the same awful mindset as someone from the US.

This is ALL a choice about how we flatten other groups into simple narratives. The most important thing about leftism to me is never forgetting that.

I come from a war-like society, I can respect the call to war when it is done out of a genuine desire to defend what you hold dear, Israel's call to war is not a call to war it is a call to genocide and it reimagines the atrocities of US colonization reflected and reanimated into a modern middle eastern conflict. I will not stand for it, I will resist the dehumanization of all people, Iranians, Palestinians, Israelis, Muslisms, Jews... we are people alike.

Also there is NO evidence that Iran has been pursuing producing a nuclear weapon for.. decades?

  • Geomorphologist here, one part of this landscape that isn't immediately apparent in its beauty is notice how this landscape is clearly most the time dry... but it isn't shaped by the average dry day slowly working away at eroding away the landscape (like you may find in a stereotypical desert land form), no this is a landscape utterly shaped by floods it is just they only come very occasionally.

When you learn to understand how every river valley is a band playing to the rhythm of floods, it sticks out to you like an unread, tempting book every time you walk in a wild river valley like this.

  • "I have really acclimated to the ability to do violence as a CEO of a large company involved in music, I have especially enjoyed destroying the dreams of musicians who want to earn a living, but it isn't enough what can I say I am a guy driven by the hustle. I want more! So I decided the killing needed to be more literal and started a shady as fuck Defense company!" - Daniel Ek

  • Edit Skip all of this and just think about the fact that plenty of normal women love the Twilight series.. and yet the way women are treated in the book is... om... well I mean the point is it is a FANTASY and to judge it as something else is to fundamentally, seriously misunderstand it. Don't hurt yourself by refusing to see the nuance to the way you feel you are driven to irrational desires, see the subversion, agency and love that comes from engaging with the parts of yourself that never want to exist as a reality.

Look, the reason you call it is a "kink" is because it is something you find oddly attractive and yet also don't actually literally want (as in the person actually really meant it to hurt you and didn't say it as part of an intense roleplay).

We normally call these things "fantasies" in the rest of life when we strip the idea of sexuality and the thing about a fantasy is that it is contained within a bubble of your imagination and consent.

If don't want your future wife or girlfriend to humilate you, yeah of course.. but if she is doing it in a way that she knows turns you on and it is under an umbrella of consent.. that is none of the business of the judgemental sides to ourselves no matter how easy it is to make a deragotory joke about it being disgusting or depraved, because it is just sex that isn't our business at that point.

Remember, the number 1. rule about consentual sex between adults is.

    1. It is none of your damn business what we do it and how we do it
  • Wait these genocidal idiots really called it "Operation Narnia"?

    wtf

    vomits on ground

This would be disgusting if it was just a normal act of war, of killing soldiers and calling it a cute name like this to disguise how any war is a tragedy, but there is a much more serious red flag here about Israel and Israeli society, this shows a blatant disregard for the humanity of these SCIENTISTS by assassinating them and making a joke out of it about sending them to dream land. Not only is this murder, the motive is a blatant lie, Iran was not developing a nuclear weapon that is undeniable and unarguable based on the overwhelming evidence.

If you still think that Israel and the US aren't coming for science, freedom of thought and peace in general you are a fool. I live in the heart of this dying empire, the US, and let me tell you, they are coming for you if you are a scientist, run or fight, either is fine but pick one soon before it is too late.

  • Now you beginning to understand the difficulty I have with most of my real life friendships, my life is a battlefield littered with perfectly nice moments split in two by The Game blasting through, making everybody lose in a terrible animal cry.

The are no heroes in the foxhole, especially when the war is The Game and your fellow soldiers in the foxhole with you are bad at The Game.

  • I like the elder scrolls series of games too, especially Morrowind, but isn't the most obvious answer here that the part of the team that was working on inspiration for different architectures and cultures might have googled similar things to you, stumbled on similar photos and thought "I am going to steal that"?

I am not saying this was nefarious, this is just how "exoticism" or seeing other cultures mundane as exotic can degrade our capacity to understand what we are perceiving.

Edit ok so Azura is an imperfect echo of Ishtar

Azura’s Moon is always shown as a Crescent, while accompanied by her single Star. Irl the Crescent and Star symbol can be traced back Sumerian iconography to the moon deity Sin and goddess Ishtar.

Sin (aka Nanna) is said to be what gave the name for the concept of sin in the Semetic traditions. The Moons being the body of Mundus's god king (and diety to be associated with the first the sin of liberty) is an interesting note.

Ishtar (aka Inanna) is a goddess of love, sex, fertility, and war. She is also associated with the morningstar Venus. Also... ....

The Sumerians were known astrologers, and traced these and other celestial bodies for many things, but most importantly, for divine prophecy.

I find the possibility of influence interesting, as well as the implications of Azura displaying Herself as a bridge between them, or perhaps a scale weighing them against each other."

  • Cultural Dimension?

    What?

I mean it is RIGHT THERE and don't tell me a border worn by the current mask that we insist in our monomaniacal focus on nationstates as calling "Mexico" means anything to a much older context and story.

To ask why a Mexican flag would appear in LA is a child's question, we don't have to coddle people who pretend they don't understand in order to waste our time and breath.
