  • News about the US economy is similar to news about the Climate in general, things just keep getting worse... and fast.. but the articles and coverage always have to start from the perspective that "darn, well good thing we pulled out of that nosedive!". Same thing with US stocks, they are full of cope right now and cope unlike love doesn't last forever.

At this point I feel like I am in a stukka dive bomber while an economist in the front seat tells me that the ground is an irrational actor and we shouldn't be worried because the economist didn't need to learn how to fly the plane since flying planes is much more simple than fiscal economic policy, and they are the experts here.

  • The most NPR liberal thing in the world is too observe fascist thugs destroying government functions in order to purposefully break them, asking them why they are doing it, totally accepting the framing they present, and then being totally shocked and forlorn later lamenting something along the lines of "Wait, THEY DIDNT DO WHAT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO!!! Where they lying this whole time!?!?!?!?".

    -_-

Like...again come on NPR you found the biggest idiot in the whole group who is apparently not pretending to believe there was a bunch of inefficiency that needed to be trimmed away in government.

The rest of us don't need to waste breath talking to these people to understand, by focusing this article as a "See you are wrong MAGA about your claims!!" piece it frames the discussion in that particular way neoliberalism enables fascism. I feel like this article is the embodiment of the neoliberal strategy of fighting far right conservatives which always starts with hallucinating a potential person between their shitty republican lite beliefs and hardline rightwing batshit crazy beliefs and talking to them while ignoring all the actual, real life human beings around them suffering.

No, if these were real reporters they would have come in guns blazing with the framework that this was never about efficiency because it wasn't and it is absurdly disengenous to either pretend it is or find the one idiot in a sea of disengenous evil bastards to talk to that didn't realize they signed up for the evil thugs brigade.

  • Hi, Grok AI here you are very creative! Have you tried actually assaulting Justin Timberlake? Styrofoam is bad for the environment.

Remember before you think, consider what the laws are around thinking mean things about rich people in your For Profit State! For example in FLORIDA ORANGE JUICE™ you must pay a fine and confess to the nearest police officer/manager 😊

  • Yes, damned odd. The plan is to smash up Byron and send him back right there in the shop to cullet and batch—salvage the tungsten, of course—and let him be reincarnated in the glassblower's next project (a balloon setting out on a journey from the top of a white skyscraper). This wouldn't be too bad a deal for Byron—he knows as well as Phoebus does how many hours he has on him. Here in the shop he's watched enough glass being melted back into the structureless pool from which all glass forms spring and re-spring, and wouldn't mind going through it himself. But he is trapped on the Karmic wheel. The glowing orange batch is a taunt, a cruelty. There's no escape for Byron, he's doomed to an infinite regress of sockets and bulbsnatchers. In zips young Hansel Mothwing, a OhiMark! Moth—twirls Byron out of the ceiling into a careful pocket and moths out the door again. Darkness invades the dreams of the glassblower. Of all the unpleasantries his dreams grab in out of the night air, an extinguished light is the worst. Light, in his dreams, was always hope: the basic, mortal hope. As the contacts break helically away, hope turns to darkness, and the glassblower wakes sharply tonight crying, "Who? Who?''

  • hit edit post, click add image button.

you can also always comment on your post and add an image to your comment!

you can look at your post in edit mode and literally see where the image will appear inbetween the text of your post (called the body for a lemmy post I think, the stuff other than the post title and post url I mean).

I think maybe the confusing thing that is mixing us up is that you can add an image to a lemmy post and that is kind of a seperate thing than just clicking the "add image" button (or whatever it is called in your lemmy interface, Il check on desktop in a bit and edit) in the body of your post or comment.

if that doesn't make sense, don't sweat it, just make a comment and click the "add picture" button on the comment editing interface! it doesn't really matter

  • What are you using lemmy or whatever on? On jerboa on android I can just hit the image icon to add another image. It will appear as another line of text that represents the image reference and you can see the name of the image file you uploaded. It is a little confusing at first but it is actually a very straightforward system.

You can put text between images too, like this

things are about to get... less hairy?

  • Side note, I highly recommend the podcast episode of Between The Covers where Dao Strom is interviewed about her collection of poetic fragments You Will Always Be Someone From Somewhere Else. It gives some really interesting perspective on Vietnam and the wake of the Vietnam war especially as a counterpoint to the incomplete US perspective that is still only interested in certain stories about Vietnam and about Vietnamese.
