  • This is an absolutely delusional article. People avoid talking politics at Thanksgiving because that's what ruined previous Thanksgivings. What world does the author live in that they think everyone is suddenly going to be capable of having a calm, reasonable, and productive discussion this Year around?

  • Thoughts = literally any thought

Intrusive thoughts = the type of thoughts we don't particularly want to think because they make us uncomfortable, but they intrude into our stream of consciousness either way.

It's called being descriptive, and it lets people know exactly what kind of thought you're referring to by adding a simple adjective before the word.

  • They are intrusive thoughts, because that's the phrase that was coined to describe these types of thoughts. Sometimes we come up with specific phrases in order to describe more specific concepts.

  • First of all, super annoying that the graph at the beginning of the article has no axes and zero information.

Second of all, even if you scroll halfway down the article to the real graph, they still don't bother labeling the x axis which shows a nebulous figure of 0-100. I'm other words the graph itself is still worthless.

  • Honestly the context makes it even worse. It's not like he was voicing an abhorrent opinion that he just assumed would remain private. He said this while accosting an innocent food cart vendor with Islamaphobic comments and threats.

  • giving them a safe space to dialog and ask questions in good faith can be a good place to start.

That's the rub, though, isn't it? Too many of them simply aren't prepared to discuss such things in good faith. They often approach any discussion with an outsider defensively. Getting them to let their guard down long enough to have an honest conversation isn't always as simple as giving them the space to do so. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

  • Honestly your whole argument is very reminiscent of people in the early 2000s using the word "gay" synonymously with "bad" and insisting it's not only inoffensive to gay people but that anyone who thinks otherwise is the real homophobe.

The whole "big/small dick energy" things is inherently rooted in body shaming for reasons that have already been pointed out. It doesn't matter that you didn't mean it in that way or that you're trying to flip the script by saying your energy doesn't necessarily reflect or corporate to your penis size.
