  • Hmm, not really used to the idea of paying for search, but I understand.

Is it good at filtering AI generated sites and sites that are clearly copy pasted. Or do you kind of have to identify that yourself and manually block?

  • I always smile when I see Hotmail addresses come up 😄

  • Could you please share your complete list so I too can block these disgusting NSFW instances?

  • Could you please share your list so I too can block these disgusting instances?

  • So if activity X has a 1 in 50 chance of injury, and activity Y has a 1 in 500 chance, which would you say is more dangerous?

  • How do you conclude that walking and driving are more dangerous in terms of head injuries?

  • The meaningful number when comparing eg driving/walking to biking head injuries is not the absolute number but the fraction. If you’re 100 times more likely to get hurt when doing X compared with Y, it means X is inherently more dangerous/risky and warrants extra protection. Even if far fewer people overall do X.

I’m assuming here that far fewer people ride than walk/drive on your average day.

And the people who seem most discouraged by helmets are those who always want to tell you how discouraged everyone is by helmets. My experience is that most people who ride don’t really give a shit / are happy to have something to protect their noggin.

1000% agree we need better infrastructure. Separating bikes from cars should be priority number one and will have the biggest safety impact by far.

  • The data further show that out of all modes of individual transport, cycling results in the least hospital visits per unit distance traveled.

If we put aside the requirement that, to be meaningfully compared, the different modes of transport would need to be normalised to the number of people participating in each mode of transport, wouldn’t this support the statement that helmets prevent hospitalisation?

  • I agree. And if I’m being honest, I don’t want 100 million people from reddit suddenly appearing here. Same for Mastodon from Twitter. That would be awful.

Please make them stay where they are.

  • These conversations bring the weirdest people out of the woodwork. I remember talking with a guy who explained to me how crap Apple laptops were because you (according to him) can’t customise them. Turns out he’d never owned or even used an Apple laptop. I was like, why do you care?! Especially about something you have no experience with!

  • What exactly does “connect directly” mean in practice?

  • I did the same. Then realised I could follow most of the more interesting kbin magazines from lemmy. So that’s where I’ve stayed.

Also, having a mobile app is probably the second most important thing to me (after content). And lemmy has lots of options there.

  • +1 for opening messages straight to unread. I’m almost never going to go there otherwise.

Any way to also attach pics/videos to posts/comments? Or is that a limitation of being a web app.

  • Loved one in serious car crash

  • Thanks. I also saw you post that you have bigger goals for the app than just lemmy. 100% appreciate the long term vision and excited to see where you take things!

  • Thanks. I still hope you’ll consider making swipe back take you to back the subscription list if that’s where you’ve come to, and not home. I think this is much more typical behaviour.

I understand that would mean you’d then need to add home/local/all to the top of the sidebar subscription list. But again, it’s very common to see them there in such apps (eg Apollo, Voyager etc).
