Pay inequality persists for women, minorities in federal public service: report

Canada @lemmy.ca

Ontarians have just lost core democratic protections — and few realize it

  • We’re behind countries with proportional representation once again. We the electorate must heavily pressure the 2 big parties to pass electoral reform.

    !fairvote@lemmy.ca

  • Plus is disengenuous to say this as if the conservatives aren't cutting it too

I don’t think you understand what disingenuous means when you bring up whatboutism. If the liberals make a bad choice you can’t just use the “what about the conservatives” cop out.

  • Carney canceling the planned tax increase on capital gains from 50% to 66% when he resumed parliament was plain wrong.

  • The democrats down south didn’t stop Donald Trump. The 2-party system is in-effective against fascism.

The liberals have largely opposed proportional representation and will eventually frustrate people enough to go for the fascists because they want something different.

  • The same conservatives who dodge taxes strike again.

  • The federal greens have pulled out of some ridings and in Ontario the provincial NDP have pulled out of liberal spots.

  • The bar for Blatchford’s green building code has been raised periodically since its inception, and as of 2024, it’s now nearly equivalent to the top tier of the National Building Code—the Alberta edition.

The code applies to all of the homes in Blatchford, but builders like Landmark are taking it one step further, offering only fully net-zero homes powered by solar.

  • Blatchford and Rainbow Lake are the only livable towns in Alberta.

  • The wacko will produce comedy material that will last years.

  • You act like the liberals and conservatives do not engage in this behaviour. It’s what political parties do… make promises to groups…

  • I’m not taking the right-wing rag with mixed factually seriously.

The Post has been criticized since the beginning of Murdoch's ownership for sensationalism, blatant advocacy, and conservative bias. In 1980, the Columbia Journalism Review stated that the "New York Post is no longer merely a journalistic problem. It is a social problem—a force for evil."

In a 2004 survey conducted by Pace University, the Post was rated the least-credible major news outlet in New York, and the only news outlet to receive more responses calling it "not credible" than credible (44% not credible to 39% credible)

  • You can pay the flight attendants fairly. It’s not an insurmountable task.

  • Ok, but I think the cons and libs are frying bigger fish.

You mean their wallets in selling out Canadians to corporations.

  • That is a poor excuse to look down at someone. Look at their character and track record instead.
