  • You want a trad wife? Get your sorry ass to work buying her cars, clothes, houses, furnishings so she can focus on making your home. Kids in private school, high class vacations, all of it.

Provider is a title that is earned and I doubt even a thousandth of these blowholes are up to the task of being a trad husband.

  • Propaganda can be true sometimes. That the cutting edge of missile tech has been well ahead of the cutting edge of missile defense has been an open secret for at least a decade. It might not be as fast as twenty minutes, but the truth is there is nothing that anybody can do about the most advanced missiles being made today apart from hoping that they miss. The problem with carriers is that they are big, slow targets. Every carrier has this problem, not just the US fleet.

  • I personally (I'm sure others will disagree) would recommend skipping Manjaro and maybe Pop.

If you want to try Arch based pick Endeavor instead of Manjaro.

It seems like new folks have a lot of trouble with Pop to me. Out of the Ubuntu-based side I'd choose Mint over the rest.

Also don't discount base Debian, people sneer at it because of the speed of the update cycle but the other side of that is it being the least likely to blow up on a new user.

Full disclosure: My devices are currently split between endeavor and Debian, depending on my tolerance for things breaking. I know fuck all about Bazzite/Nobara/Fedora.

  • I believe there is an automod that removes an archaic, but still occasionally properly used, term for a female dog and a couple other terms. Seems to be mostly a set of words whose common usage has its roots in bigotry.

  • People used to say Reagan and his courting of the 'moral majority' were going to fracture the party and cause it to destroy itself with the embrace of a massively divisive religious rhetoric. It's wishful thinking at best.

there’s no way the GOP can recover.

I want this to be true, but it just isn't. A third of the country will follow along with whatever mental gymnastics are required to blame democrats. Another third are just not paying enough attention and vote on pure vibes, if at all. If dems try to run an unlikable, centrist candidate with a mixed at best record it will end up a toss up. And the electorate at large will forget everything that is happening now within eight years.

  • The person in charge of USIP should be a person not only with a relevant advanced degree, but also at least couple decades of experience in international diplomacy. A 28 year-old hasn't been on earth long enough to even sort-of have the expertise required, even if we could charitably assume they chose a once in a generation child genius who got 2 PhDs by 16.

  • Not only would they hit you for $30 a pop, they would reorder the charges to maximise the number of hits. If say, your paycheck cleared a day late, pushing it to Monday or something dumb like that —when the mortgage payment that came through Monday morning would get processed first, then the bar bill from Friday night and the gas up on Saturday afternoon would get rung in all before the late deposit so they could ding you 3 times instead of 1.

My personal favorite was M&T bank (you scumbag fucking pieces of shit) right out of college, when I was barely covering my expenses, decided that a check I wrote for student loans was going to drop my account too low (I would have had about $4 left in an account with no required minimum balance) so cancelled it without even talking to me.

They hit me with a cancelled check fee from the bank and from the servicer which they then deducted before crediting me the cancelled check to hit me with two overdrafts, which with the extra overdrafts caused a third due to reordering. Total was about $150 in fees for writing a check I HAD THE MONEY FOR . And then, to add insult to injury, lost me my on time payments interest rate deduction forever which probably cost me a few thousand dollars more over the decade or so it took me to pay the loans off.
