Probably no chance, it's a fan game.
I doubt it's easy to get the license for everything, including the likeness, voices, music, etc.
Yeah, I could see that for kids or just like in that screenshot, as macro pad.
Even the SN30 Pro was bit too small and uncomfortable for me, and I don't even have big hands. The 8BitDo Pro 2 on the other hand, is a solid and affordable controller.
I like what 8BitDo has been doing over the years, good quality products under affordable price range, and sometimes quirky / out of the box designs. I do wish they'd make more PS5 compatible controllers, because PS5 is definitely lacking affordable 3rd party controllers.
After 8 years of daily tweeting one of the loudest, most candid voices coming out of China has been deplatformed- absolutely no one gives a shit. I could be dead in a ditch- but we aren’t actually people, we’re just signs for people like you in the West to wave at each other in their ideological war. –Naomi Wu
Sadly this is what I've been feeling nowadays.
Yes, MK11 is a good game, and I don't really play fighting games (normally i'd just go thru every characters and try out their flashy moves).
But MK11's story mode is really good. The story is nothing groundbreaking, but it's really fun and entertaining, and it shuffles the characters you play as, and that's the strength of the recent Mortal Kombat games over other fighting games.
Also, if you want to save money on fighting games, always wait a year or two, there's always an ultimate edition with all DLC characters in it, that's probably selling at half price.
It doesn't make sense for casual fighting game fans to buy fighting games day one anymore.
The thread is here, for those like me, who have closed and blocked twitter
I don't watch Linus' videos that often, and I don't know the names of the people working for him. But from what is stated on that series of tweets, seems to be straight up harassment / gender discrimination.
Anyway it's good that it's surfacing, but I hope that it doesn't escalate any more as a drama, because it seems like they have a fairly toxic community, and the one that's always being targeted are the ex-employees.

Nope, (very often) it's more like a community service, a passion project, a group project. The main thing is the source is open. Sometimes it's not funded, sometimes there's government funding, sometimes there's patreon, sometimes there's special commercial license but free for personal use, etc.
It's just the source that's open.
Crunch time at game development, that's probably akin to slave labor.
Edit: Yeah, what's the terms and agreements about the AI stuff on Github? It's still less of a slave labor, but more like straight up stealing / plagiarizing other people's stuff. I say it's still less of a indentured servitude, mainly because devs can just move their repository to say Gitlab. It's still shitty that it's being used for AI stuff (I need to start committing awful buggy code, or just straight up uploading recipes but written under .js format)
Was at the hospital earlier, my left foot was swollen until I couldn't walk. Hyperuricimea (high uric acid leve) was the cause. Much better now, don't worry.
Wait, there's a split screen on Baldur's Gate III? Normally I'd expect split screen games are for games with shorter gameplay loop, e.g. FPS, racing.
It's kinda interesting that there's a split screen couch co-op for a long sprawling RPG. Also doesn't that make all the UIs and texts even more busy / cramped?
I just read that some people are trying out split screen. on steam deck, that's wild.
Yeah, I remember reading about the house of a NZ Professor was broken into, and some believes that it was done by Chinese spy , it's shitty.
These kind of behavior harms everyone, including other Chinese diaspora who never been into China and grew up in NZ or other places.
I also wanna say that, it's kinda unfortunate that everything New Zealand is shortened to NZ, I misread NZSIS as nazis at first.
Preface: before jumping on me, I'm from global south, not from pakistan, but an ethnic minority that endured the aftereffects of red scare, I'd ask you to calm down first. I'm not American either.
So, from what I read is:
- Ryan Grim's reportings have been, questionable, he's one of the first people to report about Tara Reade, who went on and defect to Russia. Some have accused him of pro Kremlin, normally i'd be skeptical, but Intercept did produce Glenn Greenwald.
- There are conflicting information about who leaked the thing, with journalist of The Intercept tweeting that journalist of NYT lying about the source.
I'd assume countries like Russia who wanted Pakistan to support or at least stay neutral when they are invading Ukraine, have done similar thing. I'd assume China who's been using Pakistan as a buffer against India, also have been doing the same thing. Of course US does exert immense pressure, even when it's unintentional, due to power dynamics.
Speaking about power dynamics, don't jump directly to defend Imran Khan, just because the US is bad, it doesn't mean that the other side is good. I've read disheartening comments that people straight up defending imperial Japan when the video about how US didn't need to nuke Japan was uploaded.
So, hear me out, Khan said some shitty things
- on 24 Sept 2021, Khan remarked that many Pakistani Pashtuns "had strong sympathies with the Afghan Taliban, not because of their religious ideology, but because of Pashtun nationalism."
- During his keynote address at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Extraordinary Session of Foreign Ministers on 19 Dec 2021, Khan said not allowing girls to study was part of Afghan culture, and that the world should respect that.
Does that mean the opposition is good, of course not, nothing is black and white. There are a lot of corrupt politicians who's gonna take advantage of the condition. Am I doing both sides are bad shtick? Imran Khan is a politician, he doesn't represent all Pakistanis, and from his remarks I don't think he represents the Pakistani Pashtuns either, or women for that matter. Focus on the people, they are not perfect, but they just wanna survive.
So what can we do as outsiders, besides making social media content, monetizing it, and forgetting about them later on?
Well, if the military situation worsen, there will be a lot of Pakistani expats / students who'd want to get their parents or family to a stabler country, if you know some immigration lawyers, people who have experienced with bringing their families over, and translators who know Urdu, maybe it's not a bad idea to write down their emails.
I've been seeing some of the more mocking, belittling, shouty replies here. And sadly they got upvoted too, which also made me second guess, are these kind of behaviors acceptable?
I came to beehaw after the reddit API thingy, but I have barely replying with the users there for years because of how toxic the community could be. So, in essence I came here, because I'm searching for a safe space where people could be more warm and welcoming, and not just some race towards weird superiority complex.
Sadly, similar thing is happening to mastodon too, people are more and more behaving as if it's twitter again, lots of shouting. I stopped posting there.
I thought mastodon and beehaw would be a turning point, where internet does not go back to 4chan, usenet, reddit era, but into something of an actual community where people help each other, but I guess that's wrong.
So yeah, if the hostility / toxicity replies keeps on going, I think I'd also leave beehaw altogether.
Edit: Everytime when I post something like this on social media, I'm prepared for the replies to chase me out.
Awful, sadly. Somehow i feel more and more alone in this world. It’s probably a joke from the universe “you’re gonna kill yourself anyway, why don’t I make it faster and easier for you”
(Don’t reply to this, I just need to let it out, not interested in reaching out)
Downsides to chatgpt?
https://www.techradar.com/news/samsung-workers-leaked-company-secrets-by-using-chatgpt
I've never used ChatGPT, so I don't know if there's an offline version. So I assume everything that you typed in, is in turn used to train the model. Thus, using it will probably leak sensitive information.
Also from what I read is that, the replies are convincing enough, but could sometimes be very wrong, thus if you're using it for machineries, medical stuff, etc, it could end up fatal.
I stream games, even though there's nobody really watching it (lmao, i'm a horrible streamer), but it forces me to plan and play thru my backlog. Unless if the game is just not resonating, or gave me motion sickness, I do get thru most games, or at least significant chunk of them.
By the end of the game, I'd write a short review (i used RankOne due to twitch integration), just to get my feelings about the game out.
Also with this, I rarely buy games on full price unless I really want to, seeing the backlog dampens your urge to buy new stuff.
I dunno, I normally use my bash script + ffmpeg to convert batch flacs to mp3s
#!/bin/bash cd "${1}" for subdir in *; do cd "${subdir}" for input in *.flac; do echo ${input%.*} ffmpeg -i "${input}" -ab 320k -map_metadata 0 -id3v2_version 3 "${input%.*}.mp3" && rm "${input}" done cd .. done
Then i'd just run my script.sh [directory that contains flac]
you might want to remove && rm "${input}"
if you don't want it to delete your flac files automatically.
Sadly indies are not insular to those issues, here are recent examples:
- Ion Fury's dev being straight up homophobic
- Jonathan Blow of The Witness and Braid being absolute misogynist, also antivaxx
- Kovarex of Factorio straight up dismissing statutory rape as 'new SJW term'
The thing is that, there's always a right wing crowd swarming those communities that they'd downplay, gaslight, and of course play a part in the gaming → far right neo nazi pipeline
I'd say do it in case per case basis
it's a complex issue, and it will probably end up dirty, since it's business in the end.
I could understand why people would avoid buying Hogwarts Legacy, because how much the IP is tied to transphobic JK Rowling. But the devs on the other hand, they mostly don't get the say on which IP to work on. I personally avoid games like that, because the same person has enough followers to keep spouting hate which could and have translated to real world bigotry and violence. And the game serves as marketing for people to follow JK Rowling.
Then there are companies with sexual harassments incidents. In that case, spreading the words and making enough noise so that some legal investigations or actions are taken, should be the way. Then there's crunch and overwork issues, helping them to spread the word about union, not to cross the picket lines, etc.
There are many of those issues, because we didn't address them earlier in the past few decades. But shedding the light on them and you feeling frustrated are good things, it means that we're progressing, we're identifying, feeling guilty, and trying to address them.
I'd say, be more conscious when purchasing games, maybe if you really really want to play Baldur's Gate 3, then only buy it when there's a steep discount? Nowadays I play a lot more indies and retro games, and probably would only buy a full price games once or twice a year. There's large number of other good games out there, don't be pressured to be FOMO, wait until there's steep discount. And after waiting for awhile, sometimes you realize that you could just ignore the problematic game altogether.
Also, just because they are indies, don't mean that they can't be piece of shit. Main dev of Ion Fury is homophobic, Jonathan Blow of the Witness is misogynistic POS, Kovarex from Factorio dismissing statutory rape as SJW term
Keeping predatory animals as pets in Iraq – especially in Baghdad – has become popular among wealthy residents.
there's your problem, it's not the faults of the airline workers. The problem is keeping bears as pets.
With game size becoming very huge, I sometimes hope that digital storefronts or devs would give us an option to download the game / assets depending on the configuration that we want to play under.
I still don't own a 4K monitor and have a relatively slow download speed, it'd be great if customers could choose a 1080p option to save time and space.
I remember vaguely about smart download system, announced during Xbox's stage show, a couple of years ago, but I can't remember whether it's for deciding between Xbox Series S and X, or it's for something else.
