  • I believe you're referring to the Business Plot.
\ The Business Plot, also called the Wall Street Putsch[1] and the White House Putsch, was a political conspiracy in 1933, in the United States, to overthrow the government of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and install Smedley Butler as dictator.[2][3] Butler, a retired Marine Corps major general, testified under oath that wealthy businessmen were plotting to create a fascist veterans' organization with him as its leader and use it in a coup d'état to overthrow Roosevelt.

Something about the Business Plot that I can't believe goes overlooked is how much one of the players has had an outsize affect on our government for almost 100 years now:

    Prescott Bush
\ In July 2007, a BBC investigation reported that Prescott Bush, father of U.S. President George H. W. Bush and grandfather of then-president George W. Bush, was to have been a "key liaison" between the 1933 Business Plotters and the newly emerged Nazi regime in Germany,[51] although this has been disputed by Jonathan Katz as a misconception caused by a clerical research error.[52] According to Katz, "Prescott Bush was too involved with the actual Nazis to be involved with something that was so home grown as the Business Plot."[53]

How did Gerorge Bush senior, grandson of Prescott Bush, potential suspect in a coup, becoming CIA director not raise some giant fucking red flags? He goes on to become vice-president, then president. And 8 years later his son becomes president thanks to the 2000 Supreme Court decision that came about because of the Brooks Brothers Riot

I'm not saying any of that is irrefutable proof of anything underhanded but fuckin' hell isn't it a super strange chain of events.

  • the ultrarich wants to make the world eat itself before it eats them as we get closer to the consequences of global warming

Which is why some of them are building bunkers and hiring experts to make them self-sustaining. They somehow think they can weather the coming storm safe in their shells, the way they live their lives completely sheltered from the consequences of their actions.

  • My birthday is the 27th of December.

On any given year odds are that my birthday sucked. Growing up it was during holiday break so no bringing cupcakes to school. 2 days after Christmas, care to guess how many kids want to attend a birthday party? Birthday presents were almost always an afterthought combined with Christmas.
\ I am a huge Star Wars fan so when Carrie Fisher passed away on December 27th, 2016, that was an especially shitty birthday.
\ There have been uears when my parents have forgotten my birthday entirely.

All that aside, my wife threw me my first and only surprise birthday party for my 40th. It was Star Wars themed including food she made from the Galaxy's Edge cookbook she had given me for Christmas. That year I got a Kenner power (Gonk) droid still in the original packaging (with Venture price sticker still on it), which my mom had somehow saved since I was a kid. She also gave me all of my old Star Wars action figures she had been saving for me, unknown to me. And I also received an original Rancor and the box it came in from a friend. That one almost made up for all the others before and since. I've learned the best way to have a good birthday is to set the lowest of expectations.

  • Maybe not favorite of all shows but the first that came to mind;

    Out of Gas, Firefly

    Take my love
    \ Take my land
\ Take me where I cannot stand
    \ I don't care 'cause I'm still free
\ You can't take the sky from me

  • I hear you. I've had every playstation since the PS1. We even own a PS4 and PS4 Pro. Mythbusters was the beginning of the end for me. When they yanked Mythbusters without warning or recompense it drove home what I already knew: my digital library was only as good as the whims of Sony. I haven't made a purchase on their platform since.

And like you I also have Plus for a while, but I've noticed more offerings are starting to be PS5 only. And maybe it's bias informing my experience but I could swear they've already begun enshitifying the PS4 store the same way they degraded the PS3 store when the 4 came out. They removed some of the browsing options, like browsing by category.
