Mind if I join in your dry wistful remembrance?

Highly recommend. The reason I thought of them is because that is where I first learned the concept of leaver and taker societies.

My parents went to them at skating rinks where they would take their skates off and dance on the rink. They called them sock hops.

I think the Democrats who are failing to oppose this forget what fascists do to the out group? It's compromise, right? Like the Republicans always have in their bipartisan manner.

Not eho you asked but I think I know where they're coming from.

Broadly speaking, Democrats have not been calling out Republicans for their actually radicalized speech and actions. Have done far far far too little to stop right wing violence and hate groups. The dems have only nominally been an opposition party and only served as a temporary stop on the overton flywheel the republicans crank like a meth head at every opportunity.
