  • You're thinking of Staffordshire bull Terriers. American pit bulls can get to 70lbs. That's nothing to sneeze at. Pit bulls are strong, tough dogs. They can pull the bumpers off of cars like it's paper. It doesn't matter if they aren't the size of a Great Dane, one of even 45 lbs would have no issue getting through chicken wire and killing his birds. The fact his neighbours are letting the dog wander around unsupervised also likely means they aren't going to bother training the dog properly, which is dangerous with any breed but especially one as strong as the pit bull types. This is a recipe for someone getting their face chewed off.

  • Judging by what you've written in comments about your neighbours, don't talk to them. Call bylaw. It might take a couple times. If you approach them now and ask them to keep their dog leashed and they don't listen, and THEN call bylaw, they will know it was you and possibly start targeting you for harassment because they know it was you who "rattled" on them. I've seen this happen. It's not worth the drama and headache. This is sort of what bylaw is for. So neighbours aren't at each other's throats.

  • I mean, people suffer and die from getting sick from eating produce, or from wheat or rice. I'm sure other non-animal foods too. Wasn't there deaths recently from eating cantaloupe.. and we get salmonella from wheat products.. and rice has that bacteria or something that can make you sick even if you cook it properly... There's no escaping food making us sick, even if we all went vegan.

  • Sushi doesn't last long after its made. But I don't like food waste so looked up ways to make it taste okay after it's gone stale or the avocado starts browning and getting mushy. Cut it up with scissors and pan fry it in some oil. It's not bad. Add veggies or whatever if you want.

  • Canada is one of those "rest of the world places". Officially uses metric but the general population here (unless they are recent immigrants or work in the medical field) will tell you their height in feet and inches, their weight in lbs, they will tell you a recipe using Fahrenheit. Pizza is measured in inches. If you buy food, like deli meat, it is displayed in grams on the scale but a lot of people will ask for a half lb or whatever still. We use km for speed but we still use square footage if you are selling a house. Unless they are boomers or older, we will use Celsius for the weather though. I remember growing up learning metric and it was fine, everything made sense, then when I hit college was forced to learn American imperial for my job field cuz that's what the American standard was. I hate that I think in inches and feet for a lot of crap now. It's irritating switching back and forth depending on what you are doing.

  • Sounds like with that one specific incident it was that chick being shitty at her job. I'm a female and have had female mental health providers treat me like garbage too. It's not a woman vs man thing. Some people are just shit humans regardless of their sex.

  • I understand where you're coming from and it's refreshing seeing someone have the empathy you do for people suffering with NPD. Having any type of mental illness though isn't an excuse or good enough reason to treat people the way he does, or to damage or harm others like a lot of NPDs do. It's unfortunate their mental illness can screw up and damage the lives of so many other people around them. I find it difficult to sympathize with them.
