  • It is morally as bad not to care whether a thing is true or not, so long as it makes you feel good, as it is not to care how you got your money as long as you have got it. - Edmund Way Teale

  • The simple fact is if everyone who was capable of voting did vote in their interests we would easily move the US left (actually getting us to somewhere center/left-center as there is no left whatsoever in America). Republicans would go away, we could move past Democrats, and directly address corruption.

But, "their" system of making people think voting doesn't matter (plus of course voter repression and gerrymandering) and keeping people focused on shit that doesn't matter (like ageism) is working, as it has for decades.

  • Democratic socialists argue that capitalism is inherently incompatible with the values of freedom, equality, and solidarity and that these ideals can only be achieved through the realisation of a socialist society.

  • Does Jellyfin have you open the app, type in a 4 character code, and then just work? I'm assuming it doesn't. So that is why.

If Jellyfin requires any more effort than that - EVEN if it's simply entering a username and password with a TV remote, that is extra work.

  • Sage was a DVR app and live TV guide for a tuner and is ancient, hardly a competitor to plex. Xbmc and Kodi - while great - are not at all parity for Plex. Emby or Jellyfin might let me share my media with my parents in their 70s but Plex just works. Unless you live somewhere with highly unreliable internet there still is no parity to Plex.

  • Ehhhhhh. I don't think anyone expects to be setting up their Plex server with an Internet outage. As long as you have been setup prior and you lose Internet you can still log in with the last local profile you used. It's not perfect but you're not locked out. No workaround (at this point in time) is necessary, assuming you've already authed and added your server to your "whatever" device.

And ultimately you just keep Kodi for the apocalypse. This complaint about "not being able to access your media" if the internet is out is misleading. Of course you can access your media if the internet is out, it just might not necessarily be with Plex which is ultimately an online service. Sure we can call it a limitation but that's just nit-picking since most everyone has their Internet up almost all the time, offline does work, and there's plenty of other ways to access your media.

  • This is such a tiring generalization. Boomers, like the rest of Americans, had been detached from politics for much of their lives. You realize most every president has been near a 50/50 split for vote? It's not like Reagan won with 80% of the vote, which the majority voting age at that time was boomers.

Who has a stranglehold on government power is corporations. Fight the real enemy, not the people who for much of their lives (at least half of them) were trying to do the right thing.

  • Not to mention releasing hostages will not in any way change the status quo. When someone has held their boot on your neck for decades what incentive do you have to give them anything? Absolutely fuck terrorists but Israel's treatment and process going back a long time has created this very situation. They have the power so they must be the ones to acquiesce. But typical rightwing fuckoffs running that place of course don't want to acknowledge this simple aspect of power balance.

  • I agree the tab containers are pretty specific use cases. It's invaluable for AWS. If I still used Facebook it would be great to keep that isolated from all the other sites that share data with it. I like to use it for banking which is done very specifically. Otherwise yeah everything remains in the non-container tab.

And I was not saying the containers relate to memory usage.
