Ok i understand. I'm from south africa. And for all the very many things that my government gets wrong this is not one of them. My government openly stands with palestine.

Brah, i know this is off topic but why are all your posts being deleted? The ones about the UN delegates turning their backs to the US delegate in a show of protest while she was speaking.

I'm genuinely curious because everytime i try to go into a post to understand what's happening it says the post no longer exists.

There's a theory that the US would have vetoed the resolution no matter what, in order to give israel some time to prepare to completion of their ground assault into Gaza.

In other words, the israeli's aren't ready to start their ground assault and the US provided cover for them until they're ready. A humanitarian ceasefire/ pause, had the resolution been passed, would have interfered with the next step in their genocidal war against the palestinians.

My government definitely does not support this guy. But maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to say.

I just don't trust the israelis or the US when it comes to these investigations. The israelis have a truly awful track record of outright lying and making stuff up, and the US affirms whatever they say no matter what.

It still doesn't change the fact that they are correct, despite people not liking or agreeing with them on other occasions.

I don't see it as cover for anything, i see it as facts being stated, and should be stated, at a time when people in authority are not stating these facts. Is it politically motivated? Absolutely. But it doesn't make them wrong, and certainly not wrong for saying it.

If everyone who takes a position in world politics ( or whatever else) that you don't agree with is an arsehole, or the 'wrong dude ' as you put it, then you're living in a bubble. Just as someone who's ideas or statements you do agree with can absolutely be an arsehole or the 'wrong dude' to many other people.

I mean, they are absolutely correct. Some people don't like that it's Medvedev and Zakharova saying it but it doesn't make what they are saying any less true.

Fair media reporting should never ever be attacked or banned. Targeting media and trying to silence their voice is one of the steps towards fascism, and that is exactly what israel has done and is still doing.

While it is a start, the amount of humanitarian aid israel is allowing in is a tiny fraction of what is really needed. The red crescent will have to prioritise the hospitals at this time most likely.

I believe one of the analysts on al jazeera said that the border crossing will only be open for humanitarian aid for about 6 hours? And also that rafah border crossing can't accommodate the big humanitarian aid trucks, so they have to use smaller trucks. So that also limits capacity of aid.

The big trucks usually go through the other border crossing that egypt shares with israel, but that one is closed. The name escapes me at the moment.

Edit: also, what the other commenter ssid is true; is it really going to happen this time? And will israel bomb this convoy of aid as well or will it be allowed to go to the palestinians in gaza?

As bad as South African apartheid was, what the Palestinians are going through, and have been going through for more than half a century, is honestly more brutal than apartheid. And I'm saying this as a South African who's family fought against apartheid.

This is Egypt's reasoning as well. The US and Israel want Egypt to accept all the Palestinians in exchange for Israel opening and not bombing the border crossing.

Egypt said no, they have to allow humanitarian aid into south Gaza, and stop the bombing in south Gaza. And only dual citizens are allowed to leave.

South Gaza is where Israel said the Palestinians should evacuate to. Note that Israel is bombing north and south Gaza.

Israel is refusing. They want all the Palestinians out of their land.

I mean, this is the textbook definition of ethnic cleansing. Israel is commiting ethnic cleansing and genocide for everyone to see. They're not even being subtle about it in the language they've used at press conferences.

The US, European Union countries and their allies are willing accomplices to ethnic cleansing and genocide. They are absolutely complicit in the murder of Palestinian men, women and children.

Will any of them be denounced by the International criminal court? Are they going to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and the others for clearly commiting war crimes?

We all know the answer to that.

Edit: if Palestinians leave Gaza they would never be allowed to return. Israel will annexe that land like they've done with Palestinian land countless times before. And it will become the new normal to pretend that the land was always part of Israel.
